Best

I love Hing Kong Noodles! I have always had food that was hot and delicious! \r \r I recommend the pan fried noodles with beef, egg rolls (they're the best I've ever tasted!) ...

Worst

Over the past few years I have been going to Hong Kong Noodles off and on. Recently I went, and it's changed big time. The food is more greaser than ever and service is getting ...

Bad food 2/5/2007

It was last week, my friend and I went to HK noodles and the place was packed with people so we ordered a takeout and went home. The food was horrible, it was uncooked especially the onion, the beef feels like a chewing gum, it was really bad. Even if we don?t have money we ordered pizza. Pros: Good location, near my school Cons: Bad Food more

Ok food, but treated poorly 12/16/2006

Alright, so my friends and I were hungry last friday night, so we decided to eat at Hong Kong Noodles. I had never been there before, but when I walked in, it looked pretty nice and the food cooking smelled good. Anyways, we get a table quickly (for about 6-7 of us), however once the waitress took our orders, the food took forever to come to us. This was somewhat annoying, especially because it wasn't busy at all. In fact, there were other people that had gotten there after us and already had their food brought to them promptly. Our waitress seemed cranky and NEVER asked how we were or if there was anything she could get us. The good thing I will say about the place is that the food tasted pretty good. So the time was about 1:00AM and it was clear that they were preparing to close, so we finished our food and got ready to leave in a decent manner. One woman in my group got up to use the restroom, but the cranky waitress shook her head at her and said, ""NO!"" I couldn't believe they wouldn't let a customer use the restroom. Even though they were preparing to close up, that is no excuse and just plain wrong! Then, when we went to pay, they over charged us. For example, my meal (according to the menu) should have cost about $8.00 after tax, but I was charged $14.00 and given no recept. We were all taken advantage of; I felt robbed. Bottom line, if you are White or are a college student, don't go to Hong Kong Noodles because you will probably be treated poorly.\r I should be fair to note that there could have been multiple reasons for my poor experience, such as the fact that it was around closing time, or maybe they have a grudge against college students, or maybe our waitress was having a bad day, BUT all of this is no excuse and it was wrong and unprofessional for them to treat us the way they did. Pros: Good food, good location Cons: Bad service more

Noodles! 8/2/2006

Hong Kong Noodles versus The Village Wok. \r Hong Kond Noodles wins easily, leaving The Vilalge Wok bruised and battered in the corner. The place is always packed, so I usually always get takeout. I like going to Chinese restaurants where a majority of the customers are of Asian heritage. You know you will be getting some quality, authentic dishes.\r Pros: The food, service, prices Cons: parking, campus location more

bad experience? no, it's worse than bad 7/16/2006

The only reason why I went to this restaurant was because my friends told me about the horrible customer service it has, and I just wanted to really check it out to see whether it is true or not. The result was yes, it was the first restaurant I have ever been to that has such a bad customer service, not intentionally but just naturally bad. My server completely ignored us and would not come back and check on us. Also, the food was not that good compared to other Asian restaurants. I really don't know why people still go there, is it because of the bad treatment experience they want to get or is it because of the food? Because if it is for the food, trust me, there are more Asian restaurants in this city that are way better. I genuinely would not recommend this restaurant to any one. Check out other Asian restaurants in this city, you will find it much satisfying than Hong Kong noodle. Pros: location Cons: customer service, food more

Great take out 2/22/2006

Always a bit packed in this little joint so I suggest ordering take out. The food is wonderful and the prices are good. Seriously, the U of M campus has three of the best asian restaurants in Mpls. Parking can be tough here and that's my only negative. Actually, I wish there were more rice noodle dishes! more

Lunch deals you can't beat 11/24/2005

With its small seating area don't bring too many friends but do bring an empty stomach because the lunch portions are a great value including egg roll and soup. The menu is so extensive it will take you a while to get through... pick on and pick the next on your second visit because you should be coming back. Our pickup order was ready in 5 minutes!!! Food seemed good quality and great quantity. Pros: Value for Price, Great Service, Recognize repeats Cons: Small dining area, no web menu more

Great ""hidden"" place 4/23/2005

Hong Kong noodle has always been one of my husband and my favorite places to eat. My husband is half Chinese and so he loves it when we can get some ""authentic"" Chinese cuisine. Its a little eatery in the middle of a college community so what can you expect for ambience? Its busy and fast paced at times, but filled with an ecletic mix of students, instructors and couples. They have plenty of ""exotic"" dishes but also many that are familiary to the mainstream. The seafood hotpot is to die for and the Beef Chow Fun w/black bean sauce is excellent! The service is not as cordial as some may be accustomed to, but the people are all friendly, and try their best to accomodate any requests. The hours are good too! Pros: Tasty dishes, Friendly Staff, Great hours Cons: parking limited, very busy more

Best Chinese Food! 3/18/2005

This place is my favorite chinese restaurant. Almost everything on their menu is good. Love the soups, the platters, and more! Don't be afraid to try something new at Hong Kong Noodle, most likely it will be tasty and good experience for you! Try something authentic chinese, and they are not the popular 'sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, etc'. Have fun! The service is ok, and the place is average, it's always packed there, they need a bigger place. Pros: good value for the $, authentic Hongkong, location Cons: always packed, place too small, after-smell more

Good food 2/28/2005

good chinese food but the place is too small and crowded Pros: food Cons: crowed more

Best Chinese place on campus 9/13/2003

Authentic food at reasonable prices, if you know what to look for. Easily the best place on campus. Best deal: look for the plate special with roast duck, chicken, and pork with chinese vegetables-- it's a lot of food for $7. Recommended: fish with Chinese vegetables, roast duck or chicken, Chinese broccoli, any kind of jook (porridge). And of course, the pearl milk tea. Like most places in MN, they unfortunately list some Chinese-American fare, but if you stay away from that you should be fine. If that's the kind of you're looking for, then you don't need to be at a place as good as this. Pros: authentic food, reasonable prices Cons: sometimes crowded more

Noodles? 8/11/2003

Over the past few years I have been going to Hong Kong Noodles off and on. Recently I went, and it's changed big time. The food is more greaser than ever and service is getting slower each year. The servers are nice though. The noodle soups are good, but have gone to less quality taste. If you go during lunch time it's often crowded and the place is small. Pros: Polite Waiters Cons: Parking, Crowded more

The most authentic Cantonese in Minnesota! 6/12/2003

After 4 years of trying out the various chinese restaurants in the Twin Cities, I've come to the conclusion that HK Noodles serves consistently the most authentic Cantonese cuisine! It's just a pity they occupy such a small location. Pros: parking lot at night, tasty food, moderate price Cons: parking often full. small. more
