GREAT FOOD & VIEW 9/30/2010

My fianc?, a friend and I decided to go here in search of a place for our wedding reception because of the view. To our delight the food was great. We ordered the BBQ pork, shrimp puffs, duck, chicken and the pan fried crispy noodles. We went at lunch and they let us order off the dinner menu. Afterward, we decided to reserve the place for our upcoming reception. The staff was very nice, Michael, the banquet coordinator showed us around and explained the set-up for the reception and he made sure we got window seats. The waiter/waitress were so accommodating, always making sure we had what we needed. more

I like the dim sum 9/24/2010

Lucky to find this restaurant. I didn't know there were any restaurants by the Emeryville pier. Dim sum is good , they can give you more, but good enough. Lots of choices. Nice view from where we sat looking out to the San Francisco Bay. more

Excellent view and food 1/4/2010

The ocean view is awesome and dim sum is delicious. Customer service is also good. They didn't mark down our dessert on the bill so they gave it to us for free. I also lost my ring on that same day into the sink's drain, but they had someone take apart the pipes to retrieve it for me. Pros: The ocean view of course Cons: no drain stopper or filter in sink more

Caters to Chinese Patrons 4/13/2008

After reading all the reviews here, I was surprised, I have always received excellent service at this restaurant, and it is one of my family?s favorites. Then, I realized that most of the reviews were complaining that the waiters spoke little to no English. True. This restaurant caters specifically to its Chinese patrons, and doesn?t worry about interlopers who don't speak Cantonese. Unfair? Maybe, but this restaurant has thrived for many years, and the food is always excellent. I guess if you want better service, learn some Cantonese. Pros: Free Parking, excellent food Cons: can be busy on weekends more

Good dim sum, awesome view, terrible service... 3/14/2007

I've eaten here at least a dozen times. I love their dim sum, they've got a beautiful view, but it never fails, everytime I go here, I get the worst service. Cons: Terrible service more

Gorgeous view and delicious food!! 1/11/2006

Have been there for dinner once and thought the place was elegant. The food was delicious, and able to see the city lights. more

Excellent food and location 6/21/2005

Excellent view of the city - especially for a Chinese Restaurant. Food is excellent. And the place is always packed. Service is good though they can use more staff. Pros: location, view, food Cons: service more

Creme de la Creme 5/23/2005

Nice quiet Chinese place with incredibly delicious dishes; try especially the black bean sauce clams and the house noodle; also great views of the Bay. A little pricey for Chinese, and difficult to find, but well worth the effort. Pros: Quiet Cons: Expensive more

Good dim sum - Poor service 3/8/2005

The food is great here, but the service is horrible. Receptionists aren't friendly, and it takes forever to flag down a waiter for anything. Luckily for the restaurant, they've got a great location and decent food to make up for the help. Still worth the trek out to Emeryville - and the view is spectacular, so try to get a seat next to the window. Pros: Food, View Cons: Service more

Served by Idiot! 8/17/2003

Waited at lease 10 minutes for out server to arrive, hardly spoke ANY English, then waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Very small portion (at lunch) and nothing special as far as taste. I've had much better Chineese. Left the place hungry and angry. Will NOT go back. This place really pissed me off. Pros: View Cons: Lousy Service, English?, Very Small Portions more

Worst Service!!! 5/28/2003

Went for dim sum this past weekend and I think it had to be one of the worst dim sum experiences ever. We ordered our food using the checklist, as opposed to ordering off of the carts, and it took 30 mins for the first dish to arrive, and it was the desert dish!!! other tables that sat next to us got served much faster. our food was cold, the waiters were idiots... took our tea kettle to add more water and forgot to bring it back... Made the rest of my saturday afternoon a bit bitter Pros: good view Cons: bad service, bad service, bad service more

Great buns! 2/17/2003

I had the best BBQ Pork buns here. They were delicious. The views were beautiful and the restaurant was very clean. The pork shu mai was a little funky but the shrimp was excellent. more

Wow! What aview. 12/11/2002

Authentic, delicious cuisine in a magnificent atmosphere. Dim Sum Brunches and good catering, too. Lovely, lovely bay view. Pros: Great View, Beatiful and Clean, Yummy Food more

Prepare to eat 'til you're ready to pop! 11/11/2002

I've been on a desperate search for good dim sum since China Village in Sausalito was closed down and my search has now ended. The dim sum at Hong Kong East Ocean is excellent. Well-prepared and delicious. We didn't encounter one greasy item in the 10 or so that we tried. The restaurant is pretty busy, but we received our food in a timely fashion. Although I didn't save room for it, I had the egg custard tarts for dessert and I'm still dreaming about them! Overall, my one and only complaint is that the food was too hot to eat faster!! more

Great dim sum! 5/14/2002

Yes, it's true what you've heard ... the best dim sum in San Francisco is actually across the bay in Emeryville. Set in the Marina Harbor Village, this very authentic Chinese restaurant has the best Sunday dim sum in the Bay Area. Get there early, before noon if you can, or else you'll end up waiting. Thankfully, the restaurant is huge and can accommodate very large groups. Ask for a seat by the window and admire the amazing view of the bay and the Bay Bridge. Pros: uthentic Chinese Cons: crowded on weekends more
