Ok, so I'm relocating from Pittsburgh and purchased a house in Lakewood. I love the old style and charm of the city. Anyway, my realtor suggested that I call Homewise for the inspection, so I did. Homewise gave me a price of $330. I wanted to be a smart shopper, so I called around for other prices. I found a guy who is listed in Lakewood and he quoted me $250. I mentioned that my realtor recommended someone else who was higher cost and he scared me by saying I should never use who the realtor recommends. He went kindof made it seem like if the realtor suggested an inspector, they must be in cahoots. \r
\r
Thinking he made sense, I used the lower cost inspector. BAD DECISION! First and foremost, he was condescending and treated me like I was an idiot. He was even more rude to my realtor and even brought up the issue about recommending home inspectors. basicly, he was a jerk. Then, as far as the inspection goes, he couldn't answer any question, shrugged his shoulders when I asked about water in the basement, admitted that he didn't know much about boilers and I had to call a heating man, He said I could just wrap the asbestos pipes with duct tape myself , frankly, the guy was just wandering around pointing out small maintenance items and acting like he was doing me a favor by being there.\r
\r
Frustrated with Home Inspectors, I called lakewood plumbers and heating guys and when I told them about my bad experience with the inspection, they both said ""you should have hired John Cundiff"".\r
\r
So thats exactly what I did. I paid homewise $330 on top of the $250 I paid the Lakewood guy. I could not believe the difference. John Cundiff was awsome. He came in with a purpose and was VERY methodical in his approach. He knew it all, explained it all. He helped me understaned what had to be done soon, and what could wait. I helped me understand why certain things were happening in the house. He really made me feel l had knowledge I thought would be outside of my abilities.\r

I ended up passing on the house because the sellers would not negotiate but I will certainly use him for the next prospect. I think he's worth every penny of $330 and more!
