I ordered some flooring to finish off my hallway from Lumber Liquidators back in May. I contacted LL about having someone come and install the flooring and they referred me to The Home Service Store. I was put in contact with John from Tyra Construction. He showed up 2 hours late for the measurement, which should have been my first clue he was a bad contractor. Well, after he came and gave me a price of $500 (which was the minimum charge) we agreed on a date to do the install. On the day of install, he again showed up 2 hours late. He was there all day. When he was finished, I checked his work and noticed the gaps in the doorways were larger than I am used to. I asked John and he said my transition would cover that. So, I paid him and that was it. When I put my transitions in, they didn't cover the entire gap. I spent the next 4 weeks going through different people in the Customer Service/Relations Department of the Home Service Store since John would not return my phone calls. Only until I got one of the Vice-Presidents involved did stuff start to happen. Never again will I work with a contractor from The Home Service Store or will I recommend anyone to The Home Service Store. Cons: Bad Contractors and Poor Customer Service more

I will make this brief. We purchased the flooring through Lumber Liquidators. The home service store sent Joel to give us an estimate. Joel gave us the estimate, said we would not see any nail holes or wood putty, and told us he warranties his installation for a year. Joel?s crew knew nothing about not having any nail holes or not filling gaps with putty. The flooring has many many unsightly nail holes and gaps filled with putty. Immediately after installation we had to have eight boards replaced. Even after several phone calls Joel has not returned any and has never come to our house to see the poor installation. Because of the awful installation the flooring has large gaps between boards and several boards are sticking up. Joel will not return phone calls and through the home service store told us he will not honor the warranty. The home service store told us they can do nothing but take our money. They claim ?Count on us for access to pre-screened local and independent contractors, who will stand behind their work.? DON?T COUNT ON IT!
