Best

Dr. Brisco is truly amazing and very knowledgeable in her Vision field. She is very detailed and make sure that all of your eyecare is fullfilled. I did not realize how up to date...

Worst

I must say i agree with everyone saying that this doctor is the most competent EYE doctor i have ever seen. Confident and knowledgeable. However i felt it was VERY impersonal when...

Best Optometrist and Glasses 2/15/2009

I just had to write this review to say that my experience at the Hollywood Vision Center was great the whole way. The staff is caring and friendly, Dr. Brisco is very knowledgeable. She is the first Optometrist that prescribed glasses that didn't feel too strong for me. She let me try on the prescription before they made my glasses, to make sure I was comfortable with it. They have a beautiful office and tons of frame styles to choose from. Since I waited until the last minute to get my glasses before my trip, I was in a hurry, but my glasses were done a day early from when they promised them. I felt like everyone cared about my well being, and worked together to make sure they delivered as promised. \r \r Pros: They delivered as promised, and everyone seemed to care. more

Worst Customer Service Ever--seriously. 12/7/2008

I'm not even going to bore you with my story with these people....just trust me on this. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this is about absolutely horrible customer service if the slightest thing goes wrong (and it just might), but don't ever try to conduct any business with this place. Find someone else and save yourself some trouble! Pros: None. Cons: Simply awful customer service if anything goes wrong. more

Worst service ever! Beware! 6/13/2008

After supplying me with the wrong prescription and charging me the most anyone has for new lenses, they wanted to charge me again for a new prescription and lenses! I guess being a client for 20 years means nothing to dr. brisco and her staff. I highly recommend finding someone else. more

Caring Doctor and Staff Are the Best! 4/28/2007

I've been seeing Dr. Brisco over the last 15 years, and I want to let everyone know how wonderful her and her staff are. They have always taken such good care of me, and now my children and husband. She really listens to us, and seems to really care about our vision problems, and about us as a family. Her staff is friendly and we enjoy picking out our glasses with them (they have wonderful glasses, and are reasonably priced!)\r \r One year I went to another optometrist when I was out of town, but the prescription I got wasn't as good as Dr. Brisco's: it was too strong and made me dizzy. This made me appreciate Dr. Brisco even more when I moved back to LA. I like her philosophy. She always tells me that she is a holistic doctor; therefore, she gives me the smallest amount of prescription that I need. I like a doctor who is sensitive to my needs.\r \r She has a beautiful office, and has an acupuncturist, chinese medicine, and internist in her office. I just think that she is the best doctor around. She is progressive, she gives us good advice to keep healthy, and we really appreciate having doctors like Dr. Brisco. Pros: Caring, competent, great staff more

Best prescription and thorough exam 11/30/2006

I have been searching for a reason for why my vision is not as good as it was before I had LASIK. Even my surgeon couldn't answer the question. I was referred to Dr. Brisco by a friend who raved about how great she and her office are, so I thought I'd go there for my eye exam. Within 3 minutes of hearing my story about how I have glare at night, she explained, in plain english, how LASIK had affected my vision. She also prescribed the BEST glasses I have had in years. \r \r They have an awesome selection of frames, with great prices. They have their own lab, so I got my glasses in 2 days. I just want to say that it was the best experience I've ever had at an eye doctor's office, and I'm so glad to have found a doctor who understands difficult problems. Pros: Doctor who understands and can solve difficult problems more

Thoroughly hateful experience. 11/9/2006

Months of trips-back-and-forth -to-the-office later, I have the worst pair of glasses I've ever had. I cannot see well; they broke the hinge on the $300 frames I supplied (I paid the outside vendor to repair them); workmanship was shoddy -- ( lenses looked like they'd been chewed to fit frames, 2nd time not much better); lab twice got the lenses wrong; but worst of all, the doctor has completely isolated herself from her patients, with staff intercepting calls, mail, voicemail, and email. After many sessions with office staff, I demanded to see my doctor and was told it would cost me an additional $130. more

She changed our lives. 9/16/2006

I research everything before I do it... shopping, travel, etc., but especially medical advice. Dr. Brisco was referred to me by several people as the best eye doctor in town. I was also told that she is known as the ""eye doctor to the stars"", since a lot of celebrities see her... After finding out that she is on staff at Cedars, completed 2 Fellowships, and has been active in sports medicine for major teams as well as extensive research in vision therapy, I chose to see her with my family's problems. My daughter was not doing well in school and hated to read. Dr. Brisco diagnosed her as having a vision problem in tracking and after several months of vision therapy, she is getting straight A's and I always see her with a book in her face. Our previous eye doctor (an Ophthalmologist) said she just needed glasses which were completely the wrong prescription!!! As for myself, I hadn't been able to wear contacts for over ten years because I use a computer all day. No other doctor could get my prescription correct or took the time to completely treat me. She diagnosed me not only with her state of the art equipment, but with data about my diet and lifestyle. I'm finally seeing 20/20 again with contacts and working great on the computer. She is incredible and her staff is wonderful. The office is state of the art and has a spa-like feel. They sell all the best frames for way better prices than you'll find down the street in Beverly Hills.... Can't say enough good things about her... she changed our lives. Pros: a Doctor that cares and is highly capable, great staff, GREAT with children more

Terrible customer service and Money 8/24/2006

Dr. Elise Brisco is an extremely competent and caring doctor. However, over the years, I have seen her office change from being an inviting and carefree environment to a money-hungry place where eye care is only secondary to how many products and services can be sold. As a matter of fact, what prompted me to write this review is because of a letter from her office that stated how she's integrating mental and physical health into her practice by offering cardiology, chinese herbology, and plastic surgery (how does plastic surgery have anything to do with one's health?). I found it bizarre to say the least, especially considering the fact that I always had a bill of a $1,000 dollars or more for services I never requested and for items that I was forced into buying. Now, on top of eye care services, I would be charged for a forced consultation with the herbologist and plastic surgeon. Maybe, I'm too timid, but with a staff like Dr. Briscos, it's hard to be firm. And when problems do arise, don't expect good customer service. When I had a problem and attempted to talk with Dr. Brisco, I was repeatedly blocked and snubbed by her assistant. After 14 years of patronage, I never went back again. more

Wonderful Doctor 4/26/2006

I have been wearing contacts since the 4th grade and have been to more eye doctors than I count. My work takes me around the country and between allergies and overuse of my contacts I have been to many a new doctor in whatever city I happen to find myself. I have never enjoyed a Vision Clinic and Doctor better than Hollywood Vision Center. The staff seemed to be mostly women who were all helpful, cheerful, and efficient. Doctor Brisco is incredibly qualified and has a wonderful open ease about her. She answered all my questions and didn't rush the appointment at all. She is interested in treating the whole body/whole patient, and spoke to me about my lifestyle, diet, previous eye history and current work. I am so happy to have found her and her office- I can't express how fortunate I feel. Pros: location and parking, beautiful office, helpful staff more

Best Eye Doctor in LA 3/6/2006

Dr. Brisco is one of the best doctors I have ever been to. She is knowledgeable (she's completed 2 fellowships, and is on staf at Cedars Sinai), and cares so much about her patients. I was referred by a friend because my eyes were red and dry. After the most thorough eye exam I ever had, she fit me with a new type of lens that allows more oxygen to my eyes. She also prescribed foods and supplements to keep my eyes healthy, as well as an eye wash to flush out LA smog and pollution. 2 weeks later: my eyes are whiter than they've ever been. The best part, is because my eyes are no longer ""swollen"", I can watch TV without any lenses on, and see better than I did before. Her office looks like a spa, and her staff was very helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Brisco. Pros: State of the art, Caring, Knowledgeable more

Terrible customer service 12/30/2005

This was my first visit since the office moved and staff has changed. I love Dr. Brisco, however her staff and office operations are awful. In my attempts to discuss this with Dr. Brisco her staff either intervenes or she does not want to get involved. The events are as follows: I waited 2 hours for my glasses when I was told 20 minutes, the lenses they replaced popped out of the frame, when I took the frames back the tech talked through the receptionist while standing on the other side of a glass partition instead of talking to me directly, the frames were not fixed when they said they'd be finished causing me an additional trip to their office, the office opened 25 minutes late when I went back for my follow up exam, finally I had to call 4 times before they mailed me my contact lense prescription. Cons: no parking validation, long wait, no follow through more
