Editorial review from Citysearch 4/16/2013

like others posting; Had a luxury item ruined - however I was not offered any credit; the owners son (only known because he said so) instead gave me a number of reasons why Hermes's design flaws were to blame. (My thought - the reason you take to a professional and ask if they are capable - which I was told ""no problem"") Offered nothing - had to ask for a reimbursement for the ""service"" that ruined my property. \r \r To quote the owners son, "" let me give you some advice, in general, always read anything you sign"" in regard to some small print about their liability (they also made all these hurdles to obtain proof that I had actually signed anything). If you're trying to weasel your way out of liability, I'd think litigious citations are probably not the smartest choice. Poor Ethics all around\r \r My advice - if you have anything you wouldn't throw away easily, don't risk it. There are way too many good options in the neighborhood. more

The only dry cleaner that has ever lost my clothes. 12/17/2011

What is the worst experience a customer can have with a dry cleaner? Answer: They lose your clothes. This has happened to me more than once thanks to Hollyway Cleaners, and I have been in Hollyway Cleaners when it has happened to other people. The owner/manager Karim always says, ""We have never lost anything"", which is a complete fabrication. The only reason anyone I know patronizes Hollyway Cleaners is because of the extended hours. Also, the parking lot is extremely dangerous. I have seen many fender-benders in the parking lot despite the valet attendants. more

Most Insulting Unprofessional Biz in W. Hollywood 9/2/2010

If I could give this place no stars I would. The owner Karim is extraordinarily dishonest and shouldn't be trusted in any business capacity. We took a comforter there which they lost. We gave them about 2 months to find it and of course we kept presenting the ticket in order to help their search. Each time they tried to give us other people's comforters, maybe stuff people were late picking up I don't know. When we decided we had waited long enough and would just ask for reimbursement, we lost the ticket. After all the back and forth and being understanding enough to give them many chances to find it you would think they would simply go ahead and reimburse. However, the owner Kareem not only balked at reimbursing but implied that maybe we had never brought anything in. Even after that we offered to split the cost 50/50% (even though they had lost the comforter in the first place and had seen our ticket). He still refused. We took him to court on principal and this guy actually stated that we were homeless and he had given us a comforter to be nice! Karim is a tad psychotic and a pathological liar and you shouldn't trust him with anything much less your cleaning. more

BEWARE!!!! WORST SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES 4/5/2010

WE HAVE BEEN GOING HERE FOR YEARS AND OUT OF LAZINESS TO MOVE WE HAVE ENDURED NUMOURUS ISSUES WITH THE ASIAN MANAGER THAT WHEN ASKED OR CONFRONTED HE GETS EXTREMELY UPSET AND RUDE. HE HAS HUNG UP ON ME AFTER YELLING AT ME ON THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED IN ABOUT A RIPPED SHIRT THAT THEY RIPPED. I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE OWNER YELLING AT CUSTOMERS AND THE TAILOR DEPT. STAFF MAKING FUN OF CUSTOMERS THAT CAME IN FOR HELP. ONE LADY EVEN STORMED OUT SAID SHE WOULD NEVER BE BACK. TIME AFTER TIME ON ALMOST EVERYU ORDER THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG OR BROKEN. ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH AND WE MOVED TO ""TOP HAT"" CLEANER JUST A FEW BLOCKS AWAY WITH PARKING AND FREE DELIVERY AND THE BEST PART IS THAT THEIR PRICES ARE ABOUT $2 LESS THAN HOLLYWAY PRICES.....THEY ARE SMALLER AND FAMILY RUN AND VERY GAY FRIENDLY.......AFTER ALMOST A MONTH OF USING THEM THEY HAVE NEVER LET ME DOWN YET AND WE DO ABOUT $1000 (THOUSAND) A MONTH IN DRY CLEANING. PLUS THEY DO EVERYTHING ONSITE EVEN BEDSHEETS BEWARE OF HOLLYWAY CLEANERS, SINCE THE SON TOOK OVER FOR HIS FATHER THE PLACE HAS REALLY FALLEN IN SERVICE PLUS THEY ARE SO BIG THE LOOSE THING AND SEND ALOMOST EVERYTHING OUT. AND THE WORST PART THEY YELL AND ARE RUDE TO ANYONE THAT COMPLAINS. Pros: Parking Cons: THE WORST SERVICE EVER / RUDE MANAGERS & OWNER more

Everybody who was somebody knows Holloway cleaners 1/27/2010

I recently bought a fur jacket for my young lady, and were attending a most important function, and she ripped it just a little bit, but because it's for it takes an expert to fix it, not only does Holloway cleaners repair it expertly, they did it in less than 24 hours, thankyou Holloway cleaners. I've been a customer for 30 years. And I intend to be a customer for 45 more. Pros: The most professional Cleaners I've ever patronized Cons: That everyone doesn't know how good these people are more

WORSE EFFING PLACE EVER 1/12/2010

Been a loyal customer for years, never wowed by them, but never disapointed. Mainly attracted by the hours, until they totally screwed up my brand new shirt in the tayloring dept. When I produced a receipt showing the date of purchase was just 1 week prior, it mean't nothing. The 3 stars they currently have on here are crap, ignore it...not worth the risk. Eventually they'll screw you over. Cons: Everything more

Congrats on Winning city search /800 customers day 8/18/2009

Congratulations on Winning city search third year in row, winning more votes than any dry cleaner. 800 customers a day, wow, you should charge cover you would be the busiest club in town lol. K thanks for the last five years at your store. Remember the first day my boyfriend dropped red wine on my gucci jeans and i came tear faced to you, and you reassured me you would enzyme wash them and saved them. i hugged you then and always remember you every time i spill something on my clothes. As details magazine said, you are truly one the "" power people "" to know in hollywood. Thanks for always having a smile and listening to my stain stories, and always solving my fashion emergencies. My and my now husband Bill will always be your loyal customers. There is truly no place like yours in los angeles. P.S the bollywood videos you played last week at your store were amazing. Please have them on once a week, you can do Bollywood Night at the Cleaners. I liked the Shakurkh Khan guy , he is talented. Bill loves the way you do his ties, and shirt collars. Thanks again and congrats. Pros: Best stain removal man in la- Karim more

All the stars and wardrobe use hollyway 8/18/2009

I work in wardrobe and have been using hollyway for the last 10 years. Hollyway is the only place for us in wardrobe, they have over 70 employees and do thousands of pieces daily. I work for A list celebrities in hollywood, and this is the only cleaners where your can rush in have clothes ready in 4 hours, all your beaded gowns, leather trim, all the intricate trim on celebrity gowns. They work on saturdays and sundays and can do rushes till 4 pm, or early the next day. Even your most finnicky pieces are no problem, you don't need to go to Effreys and pay triple. They get out all the deep makup stains on dresses, bronzer, and even do beaded tops and dresses really well. Pros: Very fast, friendly service Cons: very busy over 700 customers a day more

bad experience 6/10/2009

i've used hollyway for more than 15 years but after the way the son reacted when they lost a garment i will never go back. he refused to believe a sweater could cost $300 even after i produced a receipt. he should have been apologizing instead of insulting and accusing. he said i should be happy to have been a customer for 15 years...not the other way around. the father (owner) was yelling at the idiot son for yelling at me, which was amusing. i'm still shocked that they would treat a long time customer so poorly. there are many other great dry cleaners in the neighborhood...4 seasons, crown, la cienega...just to name a few... good bye hollyway! Pros: parking, green cleaning Cons: insane customer service manager more

BAD BAD BAD- THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRO JOB EVER 3/2/2009

RUINED ALL OF MY CLOTHES- ALL OF THEM- AND THEN LIED ABOUT IT. MY CLOTHES WERE SHRANK TO THE SIZE OF A 3 YEAR OLD. I WAS NICE ABOUT IT TOO ( AT FIRST) AND THE OWNER WAS SUCH AN !@##!# ABOUT IT. Pros: NEAR MY HOUSE Cons: LIES LIES LIES more

Ruined my vintage Pucci Tie 2/18/2009

I took an otherwise-perfect vintage Pucci tie in to be cleaned because it had a few light, almost imperceptible water stains towards the bottom. It was wearable but I loved it so much that I wanted it to be perfect and they're the cleaners to the stars, right? Pros: parking right outside Cons: ruin clothes and won't admit it more

lazy staff, lost items, belligerent owner 2/3/2009

Everyone, please stay away from these guys. Their prices are super cheap, but it's for a reason. They are literally awful. Your time, let alone your clothes are worth more than you'll save. When I confronted the owner about some lost items, he became extremely defensive and refused to look for the items, claiming it was impossible. He seems to have some kind of severe personality disorder. You have been warned. Pros: Cheap Cons: Rude, Unreliable more

are you kidding me??!! 1/19/2009

unbelievable! i took my beautiful jacket to get cleaned just to get it back with 2 stains it never had. then they said they would redo it.. i went back again and those stains were replaced with a hole in the bottom of the jacket and a new stain the size of a 12 oz steak on the arm.... so the question is... are you kidding me?? please someone jump out and tell me i've been punked! Pros: they stay open late Cons: your really nice clothes cant be replace once they have ruined it forever more

WORST DRY CLEANER EVER!!! 12/10/2008

Fast service, late hours, great customer service, committed to community and local charities 10/13/2008

as an executive and an attorney couple, we've been taking our clothes exclusively to hollyway for 10 years: for the green earth cleaning; for the fast turnaround when we need it (from while-i-wait to in an hour if we ask; generally they offer to make it available within 4 hours the same day); for being able to pick up at late night hours; and most of all, for the personal attention and service. when a stain doesn't come out on the first pass or on the rare occasion that a hem is ironed off-center, there's not only no hassle to re-do it but they seem to be glad to have the chance to make it right. i do always check my items at the counter knowing the green earth solution is gentler than perc and i'd rather have it done twice from time to time than have the fabrics worn down by harsh chemicals. sure, it's a high volume shop and sometimes things get overlooked, but the end result is always right. kareem is what keeps our business. he always takes a personal interest and makes us feel that he actually cares. he has a dizzying amount of positive energy for his customers. my items are high maintenance -- beaded vintage woolens, pleated skirts, silks, a pair of prada pants that attracts spills, and i am admittedly fussy about having things just so when i pick them up, in part from years of having had a parent in the dry cleaning business. hollyway passes the fussbudget test. when i have an issue with an item, i know that kareem will personally attend to it, and along the way i often get an education about textiles and care (such as the time he scolded me in a friendly way for why why why did i buy a pleated cream skirt with dark leather detailing -- the leather dye will transfer to the fabric if it gets slightly damp). i stopped wearing suits years ago, and so my own visits dropped off, and yet he still knows me when i come in. twice a year he happily donates an armload of hangers to the huge laKids consignment sale, which supplies several la-area children's charities. Pros: green cleaning, fast, late hours, easy parking, no-hassle redo if not to satisfaction more

Shoddy job, no customer service 9/27/2008

I took 8 items in to be cleaned. Of those: 1 pair of pants came back with a giant stain that was not there before, 1 pair of pants had the hems completely removed, 1 skirt had been pressed but not cleaned and was wrinkled from having fallen off the hanger, all three pants had been pressed incorrectly. When I returned to the store, I was given a blank faced response with no apology. They did not offer a refund. They did offer to fix the problems, but wanted me to wait. 4 GLARING mistakes on really expensive clothes. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Stay away. Cons: did not clean or press clothes properly, rude customer service, a waste of money more

Amazing owner with charisma and passion 7/23/2008

I am in the U.S forces stationed in San Diego area and was visiting los angeles to see a friend, when i ran across this amazing cleaners. I walked in on a Saturday nite about 7 pm and was amazed the place was filled with 5 or 6 customers, nothing like this is in sleepy San Diego.. I needed to get an outfit pressed for a nite out in the town with my friend and it was wrinkled as hell. No iron at the local Ramada. I walk in and ask if i could have it pressed, a pretty hispanic girl called on the microphone for the manager. The manager Kareem, was on his lunch, gave me a nice smile and asked me how he could help me. When i explained i needed a press for my outfit, he said no problem , give me five minutes. He then proceeded to go in the back and got on the steamer and while i was smoking outside, i watched him press it himself. Pros: Energetic, hand on owner, extremely friendly more

A Terrific Full Service Dry Cleaner 7/20/2008

I have been a steady customer of Hollyway Cleaners for years. I no longer live in W. Hollywood, but I still drive the extra few miles, and it's worth it. The staff is always courteous and engaging. They always make the extra effort to make sure that I'm fully taken care of, whether it's to suggest a different and safer method of cleaning a garment, or always asking exactly when I need my order back and always fulfilling that ""emergency"" when I needed that certain something for an upcoming event or vacation. These guys are great and always make me feel important. Pros: Parking, 7-day service, long hours! more
