Hogan Is A Scam Artist 1/15/2016

Simply check out the experiences of those who trusted him to live up to his word! He took a house full of furniture and belongings from my Mom's house after she passed, charged $700 to clear it out and stated that after 30 days, we would be contacted to give us a check for 50% of the proceeds from selling these goods. That was in 2013 and it is now 2016 and he has still not contacted us and efforts to contact him have been in vain. So sorry I didn't check online before dealing with him as there are BBB complaints (they scored him as F), Ripoff Reports, etc. where he has scammed people like me. Checking into taking him to small claims court to recover part of the $700 since he didn't honor his contract. This man has done this enough to people and there is no chance that it is 'an oversight'! He should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of people at a vulnerable time. more

Some things to be careful about 6/19/2009

Well, my experience with Hogan Auctioneering has not been positive. Joe Hogan is quite personable when picking up your merchandise but usually quite unavailable when you have questions (you have to keep calling them to get him.) Their print-outs from sales, as a means of accounting for merchandise consigned, don't seem to carry much in the way of accuracy. Joe stated to me that some things were broken, but of course not by him, and others were sold later that were marked as unsold on their printout. Also, Joe seems little bothered by the fact that he is, as he admitted, in breach of contract regarding the payment of money for merchandise. The contract called for money to be paid 30 business days from the sale date. We received two postdated checks, one dated for 45 days after the sale, the other dated 58 days after the sale. His excuse that he is trying to work with the buyers...well, how do I know what they're paying him? Quite frankly, I would not recommend Hogan Auctioneering to anyone who is seeking this type of service. more

Crazy sales, lots of junk 4/10/2006

This is a very disorganized auction house that does a lot of junk and some nicer things. They are now in a huge warehouse that gets very hot in summer. They do have a lot of fans running but they end up making a lot of noise and it's very difficult to hear the auctioneers unless you are right near them. They have a general order of sale but they sometimes deviate without much notice so you have to pay attention to where they are. The auctioneers range from pleasant enough to downright abusive at times, depending on mood and how annoyed they get at certain regulars. It's pretty much a circus. If you can stand it, there are bargains to be had and treasure to be found. Just takes a whole lotta work. more

Weekly auctions, some hidden treasures 3/26/2006

Hogan's is not the most efficiently run estate auction house in the area but if you can put up with the chaos you can get some real treasures now and then. It does take a lot of patience, though. They have sales of better quality estates every couple of weeks and in between it is mostly whole house cleanouts and yard sale-type stuff. No A/C in summer. They have a concession stand but the menu is very limited and you may want to eat before going or bring a sandwich. Service in general is friendly, just very harried at times. more

fun finds and tons of junk 12/19/2005

Hogan's is an auction house in Cockeysville. They have sales every week, and there is always a ton of stuff. You may have to pick through a bunch of junk, but you can find some real gems here, if you have the patience to stick around! The thill of getting a real find for cheap (the minimum bid is $2!) is worth it! Bring a snack, because the sales can go long, and there isn't a snack bar. more
