So...... long story short....read the reviews on hobby town .......they were less than inviting..so I went to see for my self......the first guy was in a hurry, they didnt have the extra battry with the right connections,so I asked if he could help me out with the repair in there shop....he said because of the holidays ""busy time"" the shop was closed......WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then a salesman named TIM introduced himself..... the first guy ""JOKE"" just walked off............... TIM how ever was more than happy to open the shop to help a ""customer"" he was GREAT...........my opinion about hobby town is .........its a great store........ You just have to talk to the right person..............................................whom ever is the BOSS ...I would have to say ..raise your standards for the employees, basicly they could all learn a few things from TIM....Thanks TIM more

I worked for HobbyTown in Boise for a short time in 2012. The manager and owner were so unprofessional and micromanaging that I felt nervous around them all the time. I was afraid to mess up at all for fear of losing my job. On top of this my father had gone to Oregon for major life-threatening brain surgery, so not only was I worried sick about him, but worked for such losers that had no patience or understanding. I also had another job as well. They also had a stupid scheduling system that I was constantly confused about and didnt understand. When I asked my manager and coworkers about it, they got mad and the manager threatened to fire me. When I got my schedule for my other job, I wrote it down on a notepaper and I posted it on the schedule request form. The manager got mad and fired me. I highly recommend not shopping at or working for this store. Action Hobbies provides me with all my hobby needs and they are much nicer and professional. Shopping here supports these horrible and unprofessional people. Besides, Action Hobbies is moving closer to me, I recommend shopping there any day of the week. more

I went to Hobbytown in Boise today with my husband to look at buying an R/C car. When we talked to the salesman he seemed very uninterested in helping or answering any of our questions. My husband was looking at one for $300 but the salesman still did not seem to care. He was extremely short and rude with other customers as well. There was another salesman just sitting behind the counter. A gentleman came in with an item he had just purchased that had broken. The guy behind the counter was very rude and insulting to the customer. He told the customer that he wasnt going to do anything for him and he would just have to buy a new one. I was extremely upset at their service so I asked my husband to leave. We ended up going to TQ Speedways where we bought the same exact R/C car for $15 less and the service was amazing!!! I will never go back to Hobbytown. more

Interesting Store--Terrible Service 2/25/2012

My son had been saving a long time for a really good R/C car. He went in to the Hobbytown here in Nampa who did their best to help him, but they didn't know anything about racing locally. They recommended that he visit the Hobbytown in Boise. On my next day off, I went with him. The store is big and inviting. There is something interesting everywhere you look. That's why I gave them a second and third star. We looked at the R/C car boxes for about 15 minutes while my son explained to me what he'd learned reading chat rooms. Finally, after about 10 minutes I went to the counter to ask for help. A young man with a manager tag cheerfully agreed to help me. He asked what we were looking for and I gave him a basic rundown. When he found out we were considering going racing, he did give us a brochure from a local race track. When I asked about the cars, he recommended we talk to the people at the track. When I asked about the manufacturers, he recommended we talk to the people at the track. When I asked about batteries and chargers he told us some basic pricing, but didn't tell us anything about the different types of batteries or ratings. Over lunch later, my son and I both agreed that the only thing we had learned from our visit was about TQ Raceway. Fortunately, we decided to stop by R/C Hobies on Overland. Read my review on that store. Wonderful experience. We walked out of there with a $200 R/C car that we are very happy with. My conclusion is this--as an interesting store with cool stuff, I'd rate Hobbytown as a five star. But if you're looking for help buying an R/C car, their service demands that you save the money and order from the internet. more
