what a terribly run business \r -they were sent by pentair to fix my heater in february\r -called them in march saying they didn't fix ..promised to come out..didn't\r -called in april ...promised to come out ....didn't \r called in may then july .....didn't come \r in august called and they said its been too long and I needed to call pentair again and start over !!! \r obviously the owner steve little has resorted to underhanded business practice to put more cash in his pocket ....... what a shame!! more

If I could give them a no star or negative rating I would. Steve is a sad excuse for a business owner and leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to standards and work ethic. They need to change their name from Hire standards to LOWER STANDARDS or LACK of STANDARDS. BEWARE!!! Sadly the poor guys that work for him are pretty good but when a company is run by a crook you can't take a blind eye just because the workers are good. more

Gave an initial quote of approx $100.00 for transformer for pool heater. said they had to order. Called next day and said transformer was $273.00, and they couldn't guarantee that this would fix the problem. Tried to sell me a new $4900.00 heater. Found the Exact same transformer online for $33.31 with expedited shipping. That is a 900% mark up ! Hire Standards ""Alan"" told me this was a normal mark up practiced by everyone in the industry. NOT in MY book ! I ordered the part and installed it in 10 Minutes. Problem solved. Will NEVER do business with them again! Will also tell ALL of my friends about them and their unethical practices ! more

It as quite by happen stance that Hire Standards Pool Service became our provider. We were having a problem finding a good reliable service provider to maintain our pool. We have had a least 5 pool service companies, none of which was able to maintain our pool to even a satisfactory level. One day I had equipment problems with our Pentair system so I called Pentair for service. They told me to contact Hire Standards Pool, as they were the only Authorized Dealer in the Coachella Valley. I talked to Steve who sent out a service technician and repaired the equipment under warranty.. At that time I decided to try their Pool Cleaning Service and am now glad I did. This was over three years ago and my wife and I have been extremely pleased with the quality maintenance service they have provided. Our pool is always clean and crystal clear. We have had Hire Standards for more than a year and have been very pleased with the service. When I have questions, they assist me either by phone or by a visit from their service technition. (My pool knowledge is weak, and I sometimes need help with the equipment.) The owner, Steve Little, answers emails even on the weekends. And, when I had specific concerns due to products and their out come, he came to our home to discuss them. He explained the benefits of different items, then left so that we had time to consider any changes. On one occasion, I felt that the pool was not cleaned to the normal high standards, I sent an email to the office, and had a return visit that same afternoon. The owner and his staff are very responsive----which is why it is easy for me to reccommend them! more

This company implies superior service in its name but in fact is one which has experienced many dissatisfied customers, according to industry insiders, so much so that there are several lawsuits pending against them. I am a dissatisfied customer (no lawsuit yet) as well based upon the fact that the company owner (owner of a Mr Handyman franchise and several other ""service"" companies) refuses to answer questions directly which would impact upon service costs, and performance of equipment installed. Have you ever heard of a pool maintenance fee which is calculated to the penny? Such as $114.21 per month or some such figure? Beware. This company owner is a master of OBFUSCATION (look it up). more

Dear Steve, As a 15 year plus resident of Palm Springs, “Hire Standards” is quite simply the best pool service we have ever had! Winter, summer, spring or fall our pool is always glorious. FYI it’s an old pool circa 1960’s so it is not so easy to keep sparking. Over the years we have used 5 different pool maintenance providers and no one has even come close to giving us the quality of service your organization offers. Your people are on time, know what they are doing, are careful with our property and your rates are competitive. Hector our service provider is courteous, conscientious and thoughtful with our dogs. He always makes sure the gates are closed, etc. Leaves and debris found in the filter are always deposited in the trash barrel not dumped in our planted areas. If it happens to be trash day, on his way in he brings up the trash barrels. As a Native Californian we grew up with pools and know a thing or two about good service. Your organization says it all in your name “Hire Standards” . . . and indeed this is true. I would be proud to have you share this letter with prospective customers. While I had my doubts, I went ahead and trusted you, I am grateful you kept your promise to reduce my energy bill. After over a year of service and purchase of a pump, filter, and salt water system along with monthly service.....Ive had it with all of the promises and poor service and response....\r \r Im an absent owner who paid for twice a week service only to find they showed up less than once a week. Staff stated equipment installed is poor quality. \r \r Owner sounds good with eco statements too bad he doesnt back up with quality.....not to worry replaced with automated sweeper with much better attitude Pros: The owner returns calls Cons: He doesnt live up to promises more
