Expensive, Mis-managed and Oriented for Kids 1/21/2014

The costs are well above similar gyms in the area such as Merritt or Athens. The gym is small, lacks dead-lift and squat free-weight facilities and is dominated by the elderly and the tweens and teens. Capital investments are nonexistent. The pool lacked a working heater for 8 weeks last year because it was obsolete and replacement parts were unavailable. Ditto for the electric doors this year. In addition, the pool is mostly reserved for classes and swim team activities. Expect limited lap lane availability and poor water hygiene. Also expect a lot of insane policies such as clearing the pool when there's thunder. Don't bother trying to explain how electricity functions because the management smokescreen goes up and the ear plugs goes in. Ditto for the pool schedule which favors teams and classes. So, if you're looking for an expensive, mis-managed gym dedicated to the kids and the elderly, this is the place. more

Great place for kids, family! 4/4/2006

I worked at the YMCA for a few years during college. It is a wonderful family establishment. The daycare staff is excellent. They also provide swimming lessons, summer camp, and many many other programs for your child/children. They also have upgraded their workout facility and it is much more spacious. They have a nice path outside to walk on, a aerobics gym and a gym for basketball etc. Any family could really appreciate this place, it's wonderful staff, and it's services to the county! more

Nice place for the whole family. 4/3/2006

Great place for kids and adults. My son went there for both swimming and basketball. The kids are all very friendly so he was quick to make some new mates. The swimming instructions were very young and sometimes seemed more concerned in talking to each other that teaching the kids. The basketball was a different story. It is run by a coach with some of the parents helping. The kids get some instruction and then play. All the kids get a chance to get in the game and there's very little pressure to win. All the kids have fun and go home happy, they also get a reversible jersey and a red/blue/white kid sized ball. more
