Kennel Cough!!! 12/26/2011

Boarders Beware, especially during this next week between Christmas and New Years. Pros: null Cons: null more

Somewhat Pricey, but Good Care 7/9/2011

I've been a customer of HCPR for several years now and have been satisfied with the care my dogs have gotten. The kennel offers all kinds of additional services like playtimes, bathing, etc. My dogs just seem to enjoy the basic all-day "run and bark and bark and bark" freedom they don't get at home -- that's included at no extra charge! more

Hill Country Pet Ranch 1/5/2011

We boarded our dogs here during the Christmas holiday, what a mistake. When first looking for a kennel we looked at many different facilities and from what we could see and the interaction we had with Susan and Beth this seemed to be an ideal place for our dogs to stay for the week we were out of town. more

Dog Training 11/28/2010

I took my dog to Hill Country Pet Ranch to be trained, the staff was very nice. The first week our dog was there we had a hardtime getting a hold of anyone just to see how our dog was doing, then two weeks later when we went to pick him up the trainer just handed up clickers and never told us what she taught him and never showed us what he knew. She told us to call back in a week and we could have a training session, we could not get back in contact with the trainer for the training session. During that week we realized that our dog knew nothing, he would not even sit. We were very dissapointed in the training services, but the staff is nice. more

Great place for my dogs 11/12/2009

I read the review before this and disagreed with it. My 2 dogs have spent several "vacations" at this boarding facility. They get the best care ever. The staff is extremely friendly and comforting when I leave my pets with them. They have been boarding there on and off for 4 years now and have never come home with a sniffle or cough or scratch on them. They are always so happy to be there and run right to their kennels. I find it hard to believe that someone's dog got so sick from staying there. They also get a bath and groom before they come home and the groomer, Erica, on Wednesday is the best! She loves my pets so much. Before I started boarding the staff gave me a complete tour of the ranch. I felt like they had nothing to hide. I have talked to the owner, Beth, on several occasions and she is a wonderful person who cares so much about all the pets. I wanted everyone to know that this is a really good place to board your pets. They love it, they get excellent treatment the entire time, and the staff is great! Thank you Hill Country Pet Ranch! Pros: My dogs loved this place Cons: none more

Kennel Cough, ringworm, cut 9/30/2009

I don't want to bad mouth a business, I just want to state the facts, just the facts. The first time we took our Lab to this kennel, for 9days, he came home with kennel cough - $220 charge. It took him a month to get well. The second time we left him for 11 days and he came home with kennel cough, ringworm, a cut on the inside of his left leg, a rash inside his ears, and extremely exhausted - $348.89 charge. We took him to the vet the next morning and he gave him 2 injections, 1 of Benadryl, and 1of a vitamin mixture (B-12). He had a fever and the doc sent us home with 2 sets of pills, 40 cough tabs K-9/Fel 110MG tab, and 10 tabs of SMZ-TMP 960mg tabs. Our dog was coughing and it sounded like whooping cough, he could barely breathe and he would gag and get sick. It was obvious that he could not sleep the whole night and he was extremely exhausted. The Vet bill was $112.25. When we picked him up at the Kennel he could not breathe well and he was coughing loudly, it sonded like honking. Both kennel employees were there and expressed concern and we were shocked. We spoke to the owner and she denied any responsibility, said he was just hoarse from barking. She refused to acknowledge our dog was sickened even though she spoke to our vet! We asked her to pay the vet bill and she refused. She said he would be better in a few days. This kennel owner also breeds Labs so she knows the breed. We are upset that we trusted our dog with this kennel and he came home extremely sick, so we want others to know what happened and to use their judgment. Pros: air conditioned Cons: Dog Got Disease, ringworm, rash and injured more
