I live in Racine & called Hesser Toyota for a quote on a Highlander Hybrid. Sales GM, Jeff, gave me the quote & we spoke on three separate calls about hybrids & options so he was well aware what I was looking for. He stressed, "Unlike other dealers, there'll be no hidden fees." I took the next work day off & drove two hours to Hesser to test drive/purchase the vehicle. It was quickly realized by salesman Matt that Jeff quoted me for an '09 gas version, not the hybrid. Jeff admitted his mistake but said they wouldn't sell a hybrid at the quoted price & they'd only split the additional cost. The split cost was well above three other out-the-door quotes I had from dealers in Racine & Milw. I told Matt the three other quotes were only $350-$500 more than their quote & he continuously smirked & said, "There's no way. That doesn't make sense." I even commented that I'd appreciate him not smirking at me as if I were lying or an idiot. He showed the dealers I supposedly had quotes from didn't have the vehicle I was looking for. I was told they would get the vehicle from another dealer at no additional fee to me and Matt laughed & insisted, "There's no way." With Matt there, I called the Racine dealer & the salesman confirmed the quote. I was obviously upset I took off & drove all that way. I made the comment, "Well I guess I'll see you later then." and Matt didn't even have the decency to look up from his computer. ALL he said was, "Yep." & so I left. I didn't get a goodbye, drive safe, sorry you took off work, or a call from Jeff the following day to apologize. My wife and I bought the Highlander Hybrid in Racine for the out-the-door quoted price I told Matt. That night, I got a call from Heiser in Milw who said they'd beat Hesser's original, but we stayed in Racine for their hard work. We have many friends/family in the Janesville/Madison area, many of which are Toyota/Lexus owners, & they've passed the word on of the Hesser debacle. They lost a lot of business as most Toyota owners are very loyal.
