Exellent Subs and Sandwiches 7/19/2011

Great place to get subs and sandwiches in Winston Salem. The staff is friendly and they get your food ready quickly - even at lunch. That said, lunch is a really busy time to visit the Hero House. We tend to go after the lunch crowd has left. more

Been getting take out for years! 1/14/2009

Wow, I can't go into WS without stopping at Hero House. I love their pork souvlaki on sub roll and philly cheese steak with a bit of extra cheese, please! The portobello sandwich with feta is also excellent, as is their tzaziki! Onion rings are wonderful, as always, and are even good when you get them home. I love it! I used to order our med student lunches from them 25 years ago-and they loved it as well. more

Excellent! 12/29/2008

You are right, this is where the locals eat. It doesn't matter the location, they are all great. If you are looking for a hot sub or sandwich this is the place to stop. My wife and I love the chicken suvlaki (okay that's misspelled!). They also have excellent cheese sticks (and several people I know love their onion rings). There isn't a lot to say about it, just stop in try something it'll be good. Pros: Food, food, food! Cons: Sometimes it's a tad crowded (but they are expanding) more
