Incredible place 4/29/2006

We joined here as soon as it opened. I took my sons down here quite often that summer. The lines were really long, even for the members, but at least that line was shorter than the general admission lines. Ooof, and were they ever long lines. The parking was supposed to be sufficient, but it's not because it shares the parking lot with the people who swim in the Cedar River and the Community Center. So as you can imagine, it can get pretty hectic pretty quick. It's SUCH a good deal though, and the kids just LOVE it. Perfect place, better than Wild Waves, because it's less of a drive for the Eastside, South King County, and south Seattle, and cheaper! more

Outdoor swimming and family fun 8/23/2005

Families line up as much as an hour early to get into this year old facility. It has two slides, a wave pool, a small version of Seattle Center's fountain, a raft river and a full-sized lap pool. Lifeguards are well-trained and fully staffed. Lots of loungers, good sound system, nice snack bar. The pool is open to the public but local resident's pay reduced fees. This years lap swim times are much more considerate to adults, who are learning to circle swim when the crowds build up, but many times the gray days sessions have few swimmers. The pool is managed well, I've found crystal clean, 85 degree water on a consistent basis. It's easy to get to from I-405, take the Maple Valley exit and it's one or two lights from the exit. Renton's older pool was turned into a skateboard park and is found a quarter of a mile west down the Cedar River hiking trail from the new facility. more
