I love Park Vet!\r Kat H. MOran\r See original review: http://localsearchdominator.posterous.com/park-veterinary-hospital-love-them

Worst

The vets and techs are great. However, during these hard economic times, I think they are inconsiderate of the customer in how ridiculous they charge for every unnecessary lab or ...

OK, I guess 11/12/2008

The seem okay - decent service, but we had a few instances where the vets could not diagnose a skin condition. Took them to another vet, who took care of it.\r \r Not bad, but not great either. Seemed a little expensive to me. more

Expensive hurried grumps 10/18/2008

Costs too high, vets too busy to take the time to listen to owners, grumpy reception. Technically everything is there. But... this place is about high tech, don't bother the vet with the details 'cause he/she's too busy rushing to get to and charge the next patient using their inflated schedule of charges. You will be lucky to see the same vet twice.\r \r Find a more personal place. I am. more

Great Vet!! 9/11/2008

Have taken my dog to Park Vet for 8 yrs. Love the vets and very friendly staff. Friendly reminders come when shots are due and very flexible hours. Love Park Vet. more

Terrible 7/9/2008

I found that they had a real attitude problem. They ignore what you tell them about your pet and will push lots of unnecessary meds and tests. I'm sure that they deal with all kinds of people, but as a conscientious owner who is with my dogs 24/7, I think I have a good understanding of their issues and I expect a vet to take me seriously when I talk to them. more

Not recommended. 4/11/2008

Not recommended. Not recommended. Not recommended. Not recommended. Not recommended. Not recommended. Pros: Location Cons: understaffed, poor customer service, lacking in communication skills more

Below average 3/8/2007

I found the provided procedures not always geared toward the health of my dogs, but likely to generate income and to cover themselves for legal matters. It is definitely not a clinic for knowledgeable and assertive pet owners, who want more than basic vet care from veterinarians. \r Staff and doctors were friendly, but so are the ones in less expensive vet clinics. more

Clean and friendly. Awesome Vets. Very nice staff - clearly love animals 10/23/2006

I changed over to Park Vet from another local vet who I felt was too expensive for what I was getting. I can't say the prices are lower, but I feel that I truly get my $$'s worth from this group of professionals. They even send out ?aires to new clients to see how they can improve! How cool is that? My adult cat, who isn't fond of her annual visits was treated with a gentle approach, even when she was sassy! They were able to vaccinate her without stressing her out more than she already was. I have since adopted a sick kitten from the shelter and they have nursed her back to health. I was getting worried that she wouldn't make it and it was getting expensive with all the antibiotics, etc. but they explained everything so well to me that I never felt I was being taken advantage of. The proof is that my kitten is now well enough to spay!\r \r I highly recommend Park Vet. I've seen almost all of the Dr.s there and there isn't one I wouldn't recommend. Pros: Caring, supportive staff. Great Vets. Clean. Cons: Busy road sometimes more

Value for money 8/31/2006

I've read the other reviews that express concern over the prices at Park Vet. I did a lot of price shopping when I moved here from South Carolina. As far as yearly exams/vaccines they were comparable. Their surgery prices seemed high until I asked what it included. That's where I found the difference! Other places didn't include things like pain meds, hospitalization, Doctor care, etc. I have dogs and cats and have found the staff at Park to love them all. Their care and compassion is the best ever. My pets are very important to me and what I've found at Park is that my pets are important to them too. That's worth every penny. The hospital is clean and has no offensive odor like other places I've been to. I highly recommend them to anyone who cares about their pets. Pros: Staff, cleaniness, care and compassion more

Competent Caring Practice 7/20/2006

I have entrusted our family pets' care to the Park Veterinary Hospital practice for more than 17 years. I have found the staff to be knowlegeable and caring, and the clinical services to be top notch. I have some medical training (human) and a reasonable basis for comparison of quality/standards in veterinary care. My animals are very important family members and I want and expect competent medical care - no less than my expectations are for my personal medical caregivers. Vets spend years in training. Practice costs: diagnostic equipment, staff salaries and benefits, medication and supplies, continuing education, insurance, and building maintenance and supplies are no less expensive for veterinary practices than for human medical practices. My animal 'family' has enjoyed long lives and good health - thanks to the excellent preventive care and -when needed- treatment provided by the Park Vet staff. We also have been able to travel knowing that our animals were protected, comfortable, and happily engaged in the kennel at Park Vet Hospital. As our pets approached the end of their lives - when what was broken could not be fixed, we were invited to share their last moments. Our grief was acknowleged and shared by the staff from a respectful distance. I cannot express how important this was to us. Without reservation, I recommend Park Veterinary Hospital and its staff/services. The care is PROACTIVE and this philosophy of preventive medicine in the long run helps keep our pets healthier and happier (and us too!) and in the long run, it serves to keep costs down. Medical care is expensive. I can't say how the costs of this practice compare with others in the area --I do believe that the charges are reasonable and I have never felt that any treatment /service was rendered unnecessarily. As important, I know that my animals have had the best care possible. Pros: Competent, Caring, Long Hours Cons: On a busy road - difficult to exit. Kennel space books quickly more

Outstanding Service 5/4/2006

We have a relatively young dog at 10 months, and have been very pleased with the care provided by Park. Basic care has been excellent by the friendly staff. Additionally, our dog has a somewhat unusual genetic disease. Our vet hit the books and did her best to learn more about the disease so that she could explain it further and point us to additional resources. More recently, we had to take our dog to a specialty vet due to an emergency that occurred on a weekend. When the specialty vet forwarded their records to Park, our vet at Park called us to follow-up to make sure that our dog was recovering and to answer any questions. Even with his genetic condition, Park has not pushed for any additional tests or other procedures (and we requested the genetic test due to symptoms we had observed at home). Pros: Friendly, Excellent care, Go above and beyond more

Expensive, but nice people 1/10/2006

I recently took my 2 dogs in for a bath due to the Durham water restrictions. Guess how much it cost me...$100. Yes, $100 to wash 2 dogs. I had been there once before and thought they were pricey, but this was it for me. I had to have my dogs washed, but I'd rather put them in the shower with me then pay that again! Pros: friendly, extended hours, clean Cons: expensive more

too expensive and run too many pricey tests 9/13/2005

I took my kitten here for his first round of shots. Since then, they have had me back every week, running all kinds of tests that I never asked for. Last week my bill was $200!! This was a major reality check. I have now changed vets. My new vet says they get alot of similar complaints about park vet. Example - my kitten had an itchy spot on his paw pad - they ran a ringworm culture and charged me $70 for it, without even discussing it with me!! Now, less than 2 weeks later, his paw has completely healed, and they haven't even let me know the results of the culture! I'm guessing it was negative. They also charged me $19 to look at his ear and tell me it looked good (listed as ""ear cytology"" on the bill). Pros: clean, thorough, friendly Cons: expensive, disingenuous more

Very expensive!!! 9/8/2005

I highly recommend Park Vet if you have a lot of disposable income and not that many pets and want top notch care for your furry friends. Otherwise: ouch! They can really make a dent in your pocketbook. The service and staff are outstanding, don't get me wrong: they are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. But they are always finding new tests that have to be done, down to optional dental care and other discretionary things. I can't even walk in there without dropping $400 by the time I leave. At some point: enough is enough! I, too, have switched to my old vet because I couldn't take it anymore. Pros: fine staff, friendly, clean Cons: expensive!!!, TOO pro-active more

Good service, expensive, extra charges 8/26/2005

The staff is very caring toward animals, but I found them to be much more expensive than other vets. If you are willing to spend lots of money on your pets' dental care, then I would recommend them, but they are a little pushy about getting you to spend money on dental care, in my opinion. And there is always an extra charge for the ""dental exam"". Most other vets I've been to, include this in the exam. That said, when my dog had to be put down due to kidney failure (a genetic disorder), staff was very sympathetic. So overall, very good vet, but charge a lot. Pros: sympathetic, good care Cons: expensive, push $$ dental care more

User review by avery3332 3/14/2005

I have 3 pets (dogs and cats) that I've taken to Park Vet and I've been extremely pleased with their facility. The staff is friendly, informed, caring, and wonderful with the animals. I've been so pleased with how they've cared for and treated my pets and how careful they've been to talk with me about any questions or concerns that I have. Best vet I've been to. Highly recommended! more

Friendly and Knowledgable 11/22/2004

I recently visited Park Vet with my new puppy on the recommendation of friends. I found the staff very approachable and friendly, and most important extremely knowledgeable. They take their time to explain everything to you, to ensure your animal is getting the best care possible. For a first time puppy owner, I found their insight invaluable, and really appreciated all the time they took with me. I highly recommend them to all pet owners, new and old alike! Pros: Friendly, Knowledgeable, Caring more

Friendly Staff, Great Availability 2/22/2004

Prices are comparable to the other Vets I've used in Raleigh and Cary. I also have not had any services suggested for either of my pets. Any special items I needed for my pets are also available on the location. The vets easily answer questions on the phone and return voicemails without a need for extra vet visits. My two cats even enjoy going for the friendly staff; however, they may change their mind if a needle is involved. Pros: Staff, Knowledge, Helpfulness more

inexpensive and questionable 9/11/2003

This place is very expensive, and it seems to find ingenious ways to add extra charges. It's to the point where I no longer trust them to be honest about my pet's health - I view them as mechanics who consistently tell me my ""thingomobulator"" is eroded and I need a new one for $200.00. I have switched my business to my old vet, who is across town but trustworthy, good, and inexpensive. more

too expensive and so so services 12/20/2002

Very pricey vet, and you have to keep saying no to additional services they love to add to your visit. Their checkups are ok. I had to specifically request the dr to do a full examination for my pet, since they were happy to say that he looked good from far. Cons: Expensive more
