People sure do write stories on here. I'll make mine short and sweet for everyone on how I feel about this clinic. Dr. M is the one we use the see. But he's not there anymore. Dr....

Worst

My dog was diagnosed with allergies, but the problem was rancid food. They tried to give me prescription food at a huge expense as a remedy. His coat was horrible. I tried good...

Super Vet! 2/6/2008

They always do a great job! I would not take my dogs anywhere else. more

Caring and compassionate attention 2/4/2008

The only reason it's not 5 stars is that the walk-in clinic aspect means you do wait your turn and it can be frustrating, admittedly. Sure, I'd rather be able to make an appointment, but offsetting that is that we are greeted by name, with smiles and affectionate pats and neck ruffles for the "patients." We take 2 aging dogs with very disparate health conditions to this clinic, a princess cat with her own issues and occasionally present a screeching cockatiel. Each of them gets the attention and treatment their conditions warrant, and it has always appeared to me that the staff genuinely cares about the animals. Last fall we planned a pet-less vacation and hired a sitter. We were concerned about emergency treatment in our absence and how the sitter would be able to get that treatment without having to pay it himself. Dr. "G" made certain the files reflected that our sitter could authorize treatment in our absence and that anything needed would be advanced on credit until our return, when we could settle up. You call around and see how many other clinics are willing to do that! I am new to the holistic approach to treating chronic ailments for animals, but I appreciate the opportunity to explore it. The options for traditional treatments as well as the holistic ones being offered at the same clinic make the clinic's appeal even stronger. I can strongly recommend this clinic, Dr. G and his staff. more

Great Vet! 1/26/2008

Dr. G and the other vets and assistants at this clinic are great! I have taken my two dogs there for 6 years now and they always do a great job. Sometimes you do have to wait a little bit, but you should know that ahead of time. I always feel they really care about my dogs as much as I do. Other vets I did not get this impression from. Dr. G will also knows a great deal about alternative medicines or homeo- pathic medicines. I believe that is very advantageous so he can recommend the best of both worlds for your pets health. I drive way out of my way to go to Helping Hands because they do an outstanding job each time. -Nigel Glenwood more

manipulative and sneaking 1/26/2008

you take pet in for spay/neutuer, they try to sell three plans to you: bronze, silver and gold. manipulation right there, buddy, because they want to make you feel guilty about what you choose. Their prices seemed pretty high, over $200 for a neuter at the gold package. See, if you get the cheaper package, the pet doesn't get meds. Whatever. They should tell you right up when you go in there. Anyway, the people that work there are very nice. more

Excellent with my pet 1/25/2008

I still am very fond of the compassionate natural care that my ill pet received up to her last days. She had several months of improved health and a great chance for us to say goodbye to her in a planned manner. "Thumper's Mom" more

Outstanding Vet Services! 1/23/2008

Helping Hands Veterinary Clinic is the best place you can bring your pets. The staff is truly caring and the care received from the doctors is excellent! I found this gem of a place after searching for alternate treatment for my dog who had a growth on her leg. Dr. G provided excellent care including surgery and subscribed herbal supplements which we were very pleased on how well she did. I was concerned about costs but found that the costs were kept low and the emphasis was more on the quality of life for the pet. I haven't seen equivalent of this at other vets. It is well worth the drive from Renton. We are very thankful for having found Helping Hands and would recommend them to anyone. more

The best decision I ever made! 1/23/2008

The best decision I ever made! Great Service, wonderful staff, an asset to the community!!!! Helping hands is a wonderful resource to our community a real diamond in the ruff. Everyone there is so wonderful and caring to the animals and to me. They really know there stuff. Helping hands is not just wonderful to the animals but also to my checkbook. The prices there can't be beat. I have been to many vets in my life and have never been treated as good and with so much respect as I have with them and especially with Dr. G a truly caring and wonderful Doctor. I recommend this clinic to everyone I come in contact with regarding pets and pet care. As long as they are around Helping Hands is the ONLY place I will ever take my animal. Thanks Dr. G for being a true gem!! more

A pleasant surprise! 12/3/2007

We followed Dr. Evergreen to this clinic from Woodinville. Skeptical at first, no appointment, walk-ins only. We always call ahead to make sure that Dr. Evergreen in 'on' that day. The staff has always been friendly and sympathic. The Drs. are well trained (Dr. G., John Hopkins, Dr. Evergreen, WSU). They use traditional and alternative medicines. They also do referrals to specialists, orthopedic, cardiologist. more

Horrible Business Practice 9/13/2007

This place has horrible business practice and the people that work at the front counter have no idea what's going on. You wait there for an hour, see the vet for about 10 mins feeling rushed the whole time. I sat there for over an hour with my dog and an employee of theirs walked in with her cat and she was seen right away. I get to the counter to pay and they tell me that their printer is broken and couldn't provide me with an invoice. They said they'd mail it. I paid for the bill and a few days later I received the invoice and was charged for things that never happened. I was charged for a fecal exam just because I asked for a plastic container and also charged for an in-house flea medication application (which I actually did myself at my house). I called them about it and they said the reason I was charged for the fecal exam was because 'people' drop of specimens all the time and forget to pay. Hmm..here's a thought..maybe if people don't pay they shouldn't test the specimen. The only way for me to get reimbursement for the fecal exam that never happened is to get a credit on the next visit. I guess I'll have to drop off my dog's specimen after all since I can't get cash back, but after that I'm never going back. more

Horrible Business Practices 8/9/2007

Avoid this vet at all costs. They advertise themselves as cheap, the care you get is what you pay for. The receptionists are rude. They traumatized my dog and they will add on additional costs that they don't tell you about until after you're done. Watch out, I will never take any of my animals there ever again. more

Excellent Service 7/15/2007

Now here's a clinic that is pet centric. My cat has had several urinary issues and at times these issue become dire. Helping Hands Vet Clinic enables its services as a "walk-in" bases which works well for pets with immediate needs. Dr. Evergreen is a first class vet demonstrating flexibility even during his busy schedule to tend to immediate needs pets. Dr. Evergreen and Dr. G are both outstanding doctors and have exhibited the depth and breadth in understanding veterinary medicine which equated into and excellent experience. Keep up the good work. more

GREAT Vet Clinic! Dr. G. is very special 3/2/2007

I have been going to this vet clinic for the last 3 years. At one time, my cat was hit by a car and had to be put asleep. It was the worst day ever. I was crying and the vet hugged me! They also send me a sympathy card a few weeks later on which the entire office signed and included a pack of Forget-me-not flower seeds! Most lovely! The one vet, Dr. G. is a truly gifted vet and seems to have a magic touch with animals. I feel a sense of spirituality about him and he truly seems to care. Has even recommended books. The only reason I did not rate a perfect score is this is a walk in clinic and sometimes waiting can be long (the longest I have waited is 1 hour) unless of course there is an emergency. It would be perfect if one could schedule appts.! more

I'd recommend Helping Hands 100% 2/21/2007

I was visiting from out of town when my fourteen year old lhaso apso woke up one morning paralyzed in the back legs. I was in downtown Seattle, looked in the phone book and saw that Helping Hands was advertised as "affordable", which was an important word as I am on a fixed income. I frantically raced over to Alderwood and was seen by the vets very shortly after arrival. The staff was VERY compassionate, and after exams and x-rays came back, the very hard decision was made to have Ginger put to sleep. That is the most difficult day in a pet owner's life, yet it was handled with great empathy and gentleness. And I was shocked when I saw the bill, as I know it should have been much more. I will never forget the wonderful treatment that I received from these fine professional vets. They set the bar very high from diagnosis to communicating clearly what the options were. I'm very grateful to them for everything they did for us that day. They may be affordable, but you'd never guess it from the service and care you receive! more

Quality Pet Care! 1/10/2007

This has been our vet for many years. True, the cost of spay and neuter does not include the meds after surgery, or monitoring during, however the additional cost for these things is very little. They do provide pain relief before surgery. Even with that bit of extra money, the cost is well below normal vets, and the care that is given is far superior to others we have been to. If you are a dog owner, they even provide free nail trimming while your dog is under. My pets are my family, and I trust Helping Hands completely with their health and care. more

NOT a "low cost" Spay and Neuter clinic 12/22/2006

Helping Hands, aka Vets for Less advertises themselves as a low cost spay and neuter clinic. I called to get information about male cat neutering and found that they charge $129. You can if you wish get your cat neutered there for only $49.30+ - however, your pet will not be given any pain medication, either before or after the surgery! Other low cost neutering clinics do give your pet pain medication. more

Excellent vet, offers alternative treatments! 4/14/2006

This has been our vet for going on six years now for our cat and our dog. The only downside here is that they don't take appointments - they are strictly walk-in and that means on the weekends they get a bit crazy. They have started making appointments for after 6pm on the weekdays to accomodate those of us who work, so that is nice. This vet is open to and often will suggest homeopathic remedies as opposed to "traditional" treatments. Very friendly staff - and they are great with animals. (As you'd expect.) more
