I have nothing but good things to say about these folks. We adopted a cat, and the screening was 100% aimed at assuring that we would be loving AND protective. They were helpful in guiding us to a kitty that was a good fit for our family, and all the ""conditions"" for adoption were geared towards the best interest of the pet and the family. We had intended on having an indoor/outdoor cat, but after discussing it with staff we concluded that we wanted to keep our pet indoors. We are very happy with this decision, especially because we have since learned that some neighborhood cats have been injured or simply disappear…even longtime pets. Our cat is content to be indoors; we’ve had similar experience with our previous cat, which was also a shelter adoptee. Maybe they had enough of running the streets. Don't even know where to start but to state that this is a world class facility! Took a horse there a few months ago around 11pm. We live in Ramona and had a bad colic case. After the vet was out at our ranch he said he couldn't do any more and that we would need to take our 19 year old QH to Helen Woodward! Of course those are the worst words any horse owner can hear! We loaded him up and made the almost 1.5 hour trip down the hill (we had to go slow because the QH was still sedated from his tubing). We arrived and a stall was all prepared for him and the vet techs were waiting. Soon after Dr Vasquez arrived and things started rolling at that point. During all the procedures the Dr and the techs were super compassionate and taking their time to explain each step that was being taken. After multiple tests it was decided that surgery wasn't needed. Our horse spent the next few days there getting Iv's and being monitored. What great care! When we called the shelter they made no mention of their policy of ""indoor only"" cats. When we showed up they let us look at the cats and then while they were reviewing the paper work we filled out they said that they would not let us adopt a cat because I indicated that it would be an indoor-outdoor cat. \r \r The sad part is we ended up going to a pet store instead of adopting one of these poor kittens from a shelter.\r \r Their attitude was condescending and rude. This is a great animal center. I got my dog here a few years ago, and it was a great experience. They staff is very friendly, and many of them are even volunteers. more

We boarded our greyhound here for 12 days when we went on vacation. She came out happy and bouncy, and didn't have any personality changes. The staff is friendly, and this place always fills up early for the holidays. I also like that it is attached to a vet facility, incase something happens during my pet's stay. more
