I couldn't understand what the big deal was until I got here. There was a line out the door and apparently this is typical. I had the mixed double and it was delicious. Calling...

I have no idea what they do, but Heid's hot dogs are amazingly tasty. There are a lot of "must visit" restaurants in the country that I don't believe have much to flaunt, but Heid's is different. You know you've done something right when train conductors park their cargo on the tracks just behind the stand to pick up a dog on their way through Liverpool. I'm so glad the stand has remained alive for this long, so I had the honor of participating in the legend. more

Yummy casual hot dog place! 3/21/2006

This is a great little hot dog stand with an ice cream stand next door. The good thing is that it's right near Onondaga Park, so you can stop here before hand for a picnic or after a walk. Their hot dogs are second to none......they are seriously the best hot dogs you would ever have. They have a nice little ice cream stand next door and there sundaes are very good. Overall, a good place to take your family for a quick, delicious lunch or dinner. more

Great hot dogs and a Syracuse area tradition 10/27/2005

Heid's is the only place for hot dogs, and a tradition for many in the Central NY area. Best known for their coneys, they are made to perfection at a price that allows you to feed the whole family and then some. It is always a special treat to get a Heid's Hot Dog, and there's something about it that makes you feel like you are young again. It has been a tradition to visit Heid's for generations in my family, and many other families as well. There is seating indoors and outdoors. A must see stop in the greater Syracuse area. more

Casual but nice 8/21/2005

Heid's of Liverpool is located near the Onondaga Park. They offer summer foods like hotdogs, hamburgers, icecream. It is a nice place to take your family after leaving the park or you can get icecream and take a walk in the park. It is a convienent place to enjoy your time at the park and grabbing something to eat. The prices are cheap and the soft icecream is yummy. I like to take my sister there to eat icecream and head out to the park. more

The best hot dogs ever 8/20/2005

Heid's of Liverpool is an institution to hot dog lovers. This unassuming little hot dog house serves conies, or white hot dogs, for which they are best known. My grandfather, who grew up in Liverpool and on Heid's, started taking me as a kid and I still make special trips there just for the hot dogs. There is seating indoors and outdoors if you choose to eat at Heid's. You walk in and are served sort of cafeteria style--also worth picking up with your hot dog is the out of this world potato salad. Top it off with some Byrne Dairy chocolate milk, and you have a perfect meal! more

Great Hotdogs 8/12/2005

I do not know how the Travel Channel Missed out on Heid's Hotdogs in Liverpool (just a couple miles from Syracuse). This is the "ONLY PLACE" to get a hot dog in this Country. Never mind Nathan's or any of those other places that they mentioned on the "Food Crazy". Heids is it. They serve the best hot dog in the world in Hoffman Hot Dogs (Made in Syracuse)!! I know that friends of mine who go to Florida normally have to take a cooler full of Hoffmans on their trip as the hot dogs down South are "not up to par". I think they need to go to Heids and then to the video room to put in a segment for Heid's. more

HOTDOGS!!!! 8/6/2005

Heids is great, its the perfect place to have dinner on the weekend if you dont feel like grilling on your own. The food is great and reasonably priced. There is enough room for parking and there is a nice ice cream stand there as well. It is right across from onondaga lake park, so its a nice place to eat if you have spent the day at the park and are too tired to cook! more
