Best

I love this place and I trust them with my pets I've been bring my dog there one a year so I can go to FL for two weeks and they are great with my dog... Nice people they talk to ...

Worst

As a fellow dog owner, I was curious about this facility after listening to my good friend talk about her experience with boarding her dog here. So, I decided to do a web search....

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/29/2014

Misleading name for a rescue group...appearances are very deceptive here. Looks good from the outside…God loving people. By far…not the case. Behind closed doors, this kennel is run with complete disregard for these poor dogs. In the cold of the winter, no heat is provide, no blankets…just concrete floors. These people are uneducated to caring for sick pets and over run their kennels where feeble dogs are stuck in kennels with aggressive dogs who attack them. It’s sad when you feel you need to rescue a dog from a rescue group. Just disgusting! more

Not up to standard 2/15/2011

As a fellow dog owner, I was curious about this facility after listening to my good friend talk about her experience with boarding her dog here. So, I decided to do a web search. Not sure I can add more to what the last review was, but it sounds about right. \r She boarded a few months ago and questioned how her dog was treated and cared for because it took her dog a while to get back to his old happy personality. Her dog was frightened and seemed nervous upon coming home after being boarded at Heavensown Rescue. When she first dropped off her dog at this facility it was spacious and there were indoor/outdoor runs with 1 or 2 dogs in each kennel. But when she returned a few days later to pick up her dog, there were no warm fuzzy feelings about the place anymore. She saw dog crates stacked on top of each other and has no idea if her dog ever saw a dog run or was walked each day as promised. The dog food she gave them wasn’t fully used or maybe measured properly. Many dogs were aggressively barking and some seemed scared because they were stuck with loud dogs in the same run. All she wanted to do was take her dog out of there and go home. After hearing this, I’m confident I will not be sending my dog here or recommending. PS-I see they are also a rescue group. I wonder how those dogs are treated if this is how the client's dogs are treated. more

No supervision 12/4/2010

Saw all the great reviews so I tried to take a tour and made a visit over Thanksgiving holiday. No one was around and all the dogs were barking. Some dogs in crates. I walked through the kennel & to the house to find someone. Not a great place to bring your dog - too many borders and no sign of anyone taking care of them. more

A Home Away From Home 6/4/2008

I met Donna & James a few years ago when we adopted our Aussie Bella. We also had an older Golden Retriever that we were unable to leave with anyone without her becoming stressed and ill. We left her at Heavensown and she was FINE. I was so worried I called Donna many times. She assured me she was fine but yet I worried until I picked her up. She was happy and relaxed. She really was fine. When we had boarded her several times before she was sick for weeks afterward. It was such a blessing to have a safe place to leave her! We also leave our two year old Aussie there and she has the time of her life. Donna forms a relationship with evey dog that comes to her and really is in touch with what they need to be happy and comfortable. The facility is impecibly clean and there is lots of room with indoor outdoor kennels, play area, and even televisions. I could go on forever about how wonderfull Heavensown is!! The bottom line is, this is a wonderfull and loving place to leave your pet! Pros: Incredibly Clean, Indoor/Outdoor Kennels, Play Areas, Wonderfull Staff more

Wonderful facility and animal-loving owners! 6/4/2008

I usually take my dogs with me when I travel, mostly because I don't trust anyone to take care of them. But, this time, it couldn't be helped. I researched and toured many boarding facilities in the Charlotte area and happened upon Heavensown's website. After visiting, meeting the wonderful owners, and witnessing the fun, truly dog-friendly atmosphere, I decided to leave my 8 year old lab/shep for 4 nights at Heavensown. These folks probably love Lexxy more than I do (which is hard to believe)! She was treated like doggy royalty! She had a great time playing with all the dogs and came home happy, tired, and clean (the owners gave her a bath before I picked her up and she smelled wonderful)! I recommend this place to anyone who is hesitant to trust others with their babies (doggies). These folks are truly inspiring in their love for animals! Pros: Facility and Owners more

Best Doggie Hotel Around! 3/19/2008

While it's true, there is no place like home, Heavensown Kennel is a great alternative when your dog can't be at home. Heavensown Kennel is owned and operated by Donna and James Fowler. It is located on their farm just walking distance from their house. Good thing, because Donna spends more time in the kennel than she does in her house! The dogs get so much attention and have lots of room to run and play. If you choose, they can even play with other dogs. There is even an agility ""playground"" for the dogs. Another perk.... this is the cleanest kennel you have ever seen! The floors and walls are routinely scrubbed, and the kennel always smells great. I don't know of another kennel that provides the dogs with as much attention as Donna gives the dogs at Heavensown. I wouldn't board my two dogs anywhere else! more

God's touch for your pet. 2/29/2008

The place is run by a couple with the love of God in them. Donna will love your pet more than you do and your pet may not want to come home. My dog Celti (Kell-tee), a black and white Spinger Spaniel, is always excited to arrive and see all her friends when she stays there. They also seem to have a knack for handling crazy animals that only an owner could love. \r \r PS - They perform a rescue service for animals and in distress. In giving them your buisiness you are helping support their rescue efforts so your money is well spent. Boarding with them lets you be a part of that rescue effort as well. Pros: monitored day and night, On a farm, great care, under priced, TV for your dog, climat controlled, sheltered dog-runs, very clean, easy access Cons: ??? more

Caring, conscientious and spacious doggy place 2/28/2008

We've been bringing our Lab, Bella, to Donna and James Fowler's Heavensown kennel for about 3 years and have always known that she is in the best of care when we're away. The Fowlers take extra care making sure all of the dogs are comfortable, providing cots and blankets for them (how cozy), giving them plenty of kennel space inside and more than enough running and socializing space outside. And, when it's time for a pup to go home, they take the time to bathe him if he's muddy, so that a clean pup is ready and waiting for your arrival. \r Heavensown is a wonderful facility with lots of space for furry friends to run and play. It's much better than your average kennel, which usually doesn't have half the outdoor play space as Heavensown!\r Another nice part is that the dogs can run around whenever they want, not just at some prescribed 30-min. time slot, like so many other boarding kennels. \r And, because the Fowlers are always there (the kennel is on their property), we've always known Bella would be watched and cared for closely. \r They truly love the animals and it shows! I would recommend Heavensown to everyone. Pros: fabulous service, lots of running space, great value! They set themselves apart from the rest... Cons: bit of a drive - but it's *well* worth it! more

It's like leaving your baby with grandma. You know they will be well taken care of and even spoiled a little. 2/28/2008

I actually adopted Roxy from Heavensown. I met Donna and James 2 years ago this month when looking for a new family member to adopt. Since then, any time I need someone to take care of Roxy due to traveling I use Heavensown because I could tell just from the meetings we had before the adoption that they truely care about animals. They spoke about the things they do with rescue and raising like I do my own children. That means a lot when it comes to ""pets"". Roxy knows as soon as I start packing my luggage she's going to the kennel and she will start wagging her tail like crazy and run back and forth to the door like she wants to go right then!! She seems to pout when we don't leave. She starts again when I take the luggage to the door and actually tries to open the door herself!! When we arrive she is the first one out of the car running to Donna or James or even to where she knows she's supposed to go. They even have a playground for the dogs!!! Just like grandma's! :) I HIGHLY recommend Heavonsown for boarding. It's truely heaven. Even for the ""parents"" Pros: Everything you could ever want in a Kennel. They aren't just put in a crate and let out for potty breaks. Cons: hmmm...can't think of any!!! more
