Hearthstone Tavern & Grill Llc

I ate here the other day with some of my friends who suggested the place. It had been a while since I went because my previous experience about a year ago was not pleasant. However, I am so glad that my friends made me go back because the new owners have turned this place around. The atmosphere is still about the same but I always like that, but the service was great which was part of our complaint before. He was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I had the shrimp and grits and it was so amazing! I will be back soon with my husband. more

My wife recently ate at Hearthstone in Banner Elk. I usually go to Blowing Rock for my more upscale dining but have now made a new favorite. We sat by the fireplace which was very nice on a rainy night. Our server was very friendly and entertaining, I believe it was Scott. We had the fried green tomato app. with a crawfish butter and it was so good that I almost ordered a second one but wife wouldn't let me because she wanted dessert. For our entrees I had the filet which was so tender and perfectly cooked and my wife had the Salmon which was very nicely done with a tomato relish. Then our dessert was the bread pudding which was amazing!!! We will be back. Keep up the good work! more

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant last summer and couldn't wait to return. We were not disappointed!!! Each night as we entered the establishment there were groups leaving in happy moods and proclaiming their great dining experience. The first night we were bowled over by the tasty roasted mussels and also the fine tuna appetizer. For dinner I had the delicious veal saltimbocca and the impeccable collard greens. Service was great. Sweet waitress and attentive. My husband enjoyed the lamb which he said was perfect (they even had mint jelly!). Two nights later we returned with friends who were visiting. We all had something different and every plate was clean by the end of the evening. The crab cakes were especially yummy and I consider myself a ""crab cake connoisseur""! My peach and proscuitto chicken special was so creative and tasty. Had the collards again. All this is to say that I hope these negative reviewers will visit this restaurant again but perhaps they may need to go in disguise! more

Terrible dining experience and manager/owner with a bad attitude. Long wait times, had to ask other servers for salad, meal, water. Waitress abandoned us. Requests to speak to the manager ignored. Food undercooked, sent back and returned exactly the same way. Gave us the bill in full with no concessions for long wait times, poor service, undercooked food. Completely ignored our table, attention went to larger tables. more

March 06, 2010 - We have been patrons of Hearthstone since they took over Mountain Tavern & Grill. We were looking forward to new management, but much to our dismay, it is like the repeat old the old establishment. After many trips and tabs averaging $60 per person, the treatment we received tonight was unthinkable. We ordered our 1st round of drinks and only round of drinks at the bar. We planned to eat either at the bar or in the bar area. (Open-seating) When we asked if we could order our meal while having a cocktail, then sit and eat at the one of the many vacant tables - 3 feet behind us; we were told no. Then we asked bartender, Katie, if a waiter for one of the bar tables could take our order while we sitting at the bar, then we would move to the table. We were told no. Then out of no where, bartender- Katie, got in my husbands face and said, ?Let me explain the rules to you!"" As she spouted off the rules, I was in disbelief. With today?s economic issues...are you kidding me? You have patrons in your presence and you are going to belittle my 58 yr old husband-entrepreneur with your stupid petty rules? Not only was she rude and disrespectful, but she caught the ear of Rusty, an Upscale Bar-Rat. He then added a few negative comments regarding Katie as she attacked all of us. Then she (Katie) proceeds to pull part-owner LeeAnn to the back room to discuss the situation. **Like she was invisible and we weren?t left feeling uncomfortable?** So after this ridiculous episode, I was quite pissed as I had not received an apology and decided to leave. I respectfully asked my husband, the usual outspoken one, to go the waiting area for me to sign our check for two cocktails. I told Katie she was disrespectful to us and she made us feel like criminals. She would not apologize and shared that she informed management about us not wanting to follow the rules. What rules? We just wanted to order at the bar/&or sit in the bar area to drop a couple of Franklins. With all of our business dealings, I don?t get stupidity. .I guess their rules bought them two less patrons and a whole lot more after we share our story with others. I am so glad we were not entertaining friends to a night out. I would have been embarrassed by Hearthstones' behavior. Beware.
