Hearth & Home/Mike C. = another nightmare for a 50's, single trying to hire good, fair, reliable service to perform needed service!
I hired H&H to inspect a one-bdm, low-cost condo purchased for my daughter. Mike emailed a cklist of items he would inspect....the cklist looked great, web site professional, price was right and he was available on short notice...good to go.
Mike arrived on Mon. morn in late Aug. in shorts and barefoot summer-sandals smelling a bit like the ""morning after"". Not a great impression in front of the Seller's realtor, but I ignored all that and assumed he'd had a fun weekend....on to business.
I am a single buyer with no home-repair experience....every repair will require a service call for an owner like me. I relied on Mike to identify any/all potential issues so that I could address those with the Seller. Mike failed to provide an objective report according to the guidelines of his OWN checklist, but interjected his personal opinion about how the condition of items weren't ""too bad considering what you're got this place for""!!!
Really, Mike - ya think???
In the 10 days I've owned the condo:
1, I've had the pipes snaked,
2. Shower faucet replaced,
3. Two outlets in the LR don't work,
3. The ceiling fan squeals so loud it's not useable.
During your inspection, you never noticed:
1. Shelf missing from the frig
2. You took a photo of the wrong AC compressor and a missing gas meter...and submitted those photos in your report to me!!
3. You gave a completely inaccurate description to me of how the breakers in the electrical box function!!!!! That's not SAFE!!!!
Not sure if Mike was hung-over or honestly let anything should pass given the discounted price I paid for the condo. Instead, I wish Mike would have done a competent, professional job for what I paid him to do....and a professional image would have been nice!!
$200 worth of disappointment!!!
