I found Dr. Cohen to be dismissive and rushed when I came in with a joint issue. She recommended over-the-counter supplements that are not well-regarded in the scientific community and refused to refer me to a physical therapist. Luckily, my insurance company said I didn't actually need a referral and I'm so glad I checked. The physical therapist helped me a LOT with the issue I was having. My PT also advised against a supplement Dr. Cohen recommended and showed me the double-blind peer-reviewed medical studiesso I could check for myself.
Aside from Dr. Cohen giving me out-of-date knowledge, I'm concerned about her reluctance to refer. She essentially told me to let her know if my condition became debilitating, rather than giving me a referral so that I could work on preventive steps. I am glad I took those steps anyway and worked on a long-term treatment plan.
I'm additionally concerned about Dr. Cohen seems to be more concerned with saving insurance companies money than she seems to be concerned with providing the best care for her patients. She has recommended skipping over annual bloodwork that's 100% covered by health insurance.
