Best brisket and ribs around 10/9/2008

The brisket is lean and smoky and not at all dry, and the ribs were as lean as ribs can be and cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese is as rich and tasty as it comes, and I highly recommend choosing it as a side. I haven't had the other meats and sides because I enjoy the items I mentioned so much that I have them every time I eat in or carry out. By the way, I love to take out their brisket by the pound for my own sandwiches at home. I'm sure I'll try the rest of the menu eventually! Pros: lean, flavorful meat that isn't dry; can buy carry out by the pound more

Fantastic BBQ 9/20/2008

My husband and I went to Hawg Wild for the first time today. We just moved here two months ago, and have been eying the place for awhile. We are so glad we went. Frank, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was fast and very friendly. We ordered the app sampler with their smoked sausage, wet brisket and smoked chicken wings--with the house's signature Hawg Wild sauce. The sausage was juicy and tender; the brisket fell apart when we looked at it, and the wings were so good they didn't need any sauce, but we used some anyway--the house sauce is a traditional-style tomato based sauce. Not too sweet, which is a nice change. Just smoky and spicy enough, and it went well with all three meats. We split the vinegar-soaked pulled pork with BBQ pinto beans and corn. Pork was perfect with some crunchy pink outside pieces. It was nice to get a look at a really good smoke ring. The BBQ beans were smoky and wonderful. The corn was corn--nothing special, but good, and the rolls were fluffy and warm. Sweet tea to drink--not too sweet; just about perfect. We were very impressed, and we will definitely be back again to try all the other offerings and dessert that we were too full to eat today. I hope these guys do well--our server said that they are already talking about opening another outlet. If you don't live near Harrison Pointe, hope they build one over by your house. If not, it is well worth the drive to north Cary to give them a try! Pros: Great food, great service, wide variety of sauces Cons: no real place to get away from cigarette smoke more

BEST AUTHENTIC BBQ RESTAURANT in the Triangle !! 6/15/2008

Do yourself a huge favor and make it to HAWG WILD for lunch or dinner sometime soon !! We had such an AWESOME experience there !! They had it ALL; great service, attentive staff (including owner), delicious barbeque (beef brisket and pulled pork) and homemade style menu offerings. They've taken great care to offer a great mix of styles and sauces to please most palates. We found out that the beef brisket had been smoking for a dozen hours along with the pulled pork. They both melt in your mouth ! The Hawg Wild BBQ sauce is just what you want, bit of smoke, spice, sweet and tanginess. I don't think that you could miss with any choice on their menu. So authentic to the styles of BBQ that they replicate there ! They offer a good selection of specialty craft beers as well. Give them a try real soon ! You'll be glad you went looking for them in the Harrison Pointe shopping center opposite side from Staples a few stores down from Sunset Grille. Maybe we'll see you there !! ; ) Pros: Excellent service, great staff, authentic homemade style menu Cons: Location not obvious in Harrison Pointe more

BEST RIBS IN THE TRIANGLE AREA AND MORE!!! 4/23/2008

I visited this place today and i was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the St. louis style wet ribs . I consider myself to be a rib expert . These ribs were AWESOME!!!! Cooked to perfection with a visible smoke ring. The sauce is to die for! it is an excellent marriage of sweet smoke and spice. This is a locally owned and operated smokehouse & grill which gives it that neighborhood bar feel. The staff is very attentive to your needs from the time you enter. I highly reccomend this place!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR GO HAWGWILD!!!!!!!!! Pros: Best ribs in the triangle area hands down. Cons: they arent in my back yard! more

Great Barbecue! 2/14/2008

Hawg Wild is a great place for barbeque. I have eaten lunch their several times since they opened and the brisket, pork, sausage and turkey are all great. The smoked turykey is the best I have had and it is my favorite meat on the menu. The baked potatoes are awesome, especially when topped with chili or one of the smoked meats. The smoked chicken wings are excellent as well. The staff is friendly and courteous and the food comes out quick. The serviings are very generous. If you leave hungry, it is your fault (if you can put away the V-twin double burger you are a real man). Save room for the sweet potatoe pie! It has quickly become my favorite lunch destination. Pros: Best Barbecue in the are Cons: Too full to eat the desert more

Best Brisket & Smoked Chicken in Raleigh area 2/10/2008

I have lived in Raleigh for a few years now and love brisket when it is cooked right. Most of the BBQ restaurants in the area don't offer brisket... and the ones who do offer it, overcook it. At Hawgwild, the Brisket is so tender and jiucy that it literally melts in your mouth. I have eaten at Hawgwild at least 10 times since they've opened and have yet to find anything on the menu that I don't like. Their appetizers are awesome and if you are a smoked chicken fan, their's are the best that I have ever eaten... and I've eaten plenty!!! Their tagline is 'Come see what we're smokin'... I'm not sure what they're smokin, but I assure you that it is some good stuff!!! Pros: Best brisket, Service, Cool atmosphere Cons: So good that you may over eat more
