Haru Japanese restaurant in Melbourne, FL 6/5/2010

My friends and I are on an adventure on visiting every Japanese restaurant in Brevard County. We ended up at Haru the other night and we loved it! Ok, so judging from the location, from the outside it looked like a hole in the wall. We went in and was kind of disappointed to be greeted by a caucasian, but she was very pleasant and knew her stuff. We were fooled by the outside because inside was a very pretty atmosphere. All of the tables we set up accordingly to Japanese culture. There was a sushi bar in the back with a Japanese looking guy fixing things up, so that made up for the lack of Japanese staffers. Another disappointment was the music in the backgroung playing American music. Would had been nice to hear Japanese instrumental stuff. Had enough of pop crap. Anyway, we ordered appetizers, rolls, and I had the chicken teriyaki and my friend had the steak teriyaki. It was devine! and they served you enough to fill you up. Wasn't expensive and overall it was a pleasant experience. Next week we'll visit Fujiyama in Suntree.... Pros: Warm atmosphere; knowledgeable hostesses Cons: American music was playing. Ruined the Japanese feel. more

Haru 2/10/2004

Ok, Voila was the French restaurant at this location several years ago. They moved to the Islands of the Carrabbean. The current restaurant is now called Haru and is an excellent Japanese restaurant, featuring sushi and cooked meals. Very good.........but you may want to call ahead. They often close one night a week for Medical meeting dinners, and it's never the same night. You could find yourself turned away at the door because of one of these business dinners. Pros: good food, nice atmosphere, good parking Cons: , for business function more
