Harry's Foreign American Auto

Sure Harry likes to talk, don't we all. He does a great overall job. Nothing gets by him and he is a true professional. He checks everything out, fluids, tire pressure including the spare, etc, and I just went in for an light bulb change. I have been back to him several more times and have had family and friends taking their cars to him now. He is the old fashion mechanic with values which are now gone. more

harry is a great mechanic....he not only doesnt use the ""mechanic tricks"" to rip u off but if u a good customer to him he will be good to u...either through giving u discounts or giving u honest advice. he is a talker so be prepared...from politics to flowers to the city he is living in and more. he is great. he doesnt jus do the job...he goes beyond it by truely befriending his customers. i drive from two hours away just for an oil change. he doesnt use cheap stuff either. SO I STOPPED BY HIS SHOP ONE DAY TO ASK HIM ABOUT MY CAR, AND TO GET A ROUGH IDEA ON HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST (BECAUSE I ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG W/ THE CAR). HE WAS CONVERSATIONAL, BUT BECAME VERY UN-ATTENTIVE WHEN I STARTED TO ASK FOR AN ESTIMATE. HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT I THE CAR BECAUSE IT WASN'T THERE, SO I MADE A VERBAL APPOINTMENT APPOINTMENT FOR A FEW DAYS LATER. I CALLED HIM BACK AFTER I HAD AAA COME TO CHECK OUT AND DIAGNOS THE PROBLEM FOR REAL (AAA USES THE SAME TOOL MECHANICS USE TO TEST BATTERIES/ALTERNATORS). THE AAA DUDE, WHO WAS VERY COOL AND HELPFUL, TOLD ME WHAT WAS UP. SO I CALLED HARRY'S BACK AND SPOKE WITH THE SAME GUY I DID A FEW DAYS BEFORE, AND ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE ON A SPECIFIC JOB, THEN TOLD ME HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME FOR MY ANYMORE. SO LESSON LEARNED DON'T EVEN BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME WITH THIS GUY IF YOU WANT ANY ""REAL"" ESTIMATES OR CONCRETE APPOINTMENTS.
