A Beef-eaters paradise 10/17/2002

A slab of juicy 2 inch thick Prime Rib, Excellent Filet Mignon, baked squares of oh so tasty Scalloped Potatoes, and creamed Spinach to die for. This place is the absolute bomb! Attention and promptness of service was top-notch. If you love beef, this is the place for you! Pros: fine service, great beef cuts, nice atmosphere Cons: high price more

I have a Beef with Harris' 10/7/2002

The last 2 times I went there, a couple of months ago, the meat was dry and not particularly tender...porterhouse and strip steak, so I think they are resting on their fried onions...this isn't as it used to be! Pros: martinis Cons: mediocre meat more

There isn't much better 10/7/2002

It started off with the hostess squeezing us in to a 3 top over the phone...the cabby got us there in 7 minutes flat. I had the filet, my two partners in crime had prime rib...all conversation stopped during the meal...our eyes rolled back in our heads with each bite. The wine was reasonable and the martinis were mixed beautifully. The jazz trio was a great touch. I'm from the midwest, where beef is our THING...nothing here comes close. Pros: helpful staff, great wine list, extensive bar Cons: wow! the bill!, tables were close... more

best steaks in the city 9/13/2002

Fantastic steaks in a classy but non-stuffy atmosphere. Very pricey, but it's worth saving up for a splurge once a year. more

great steak 8/31/2002

What can you say...this place serves fantastic meat. In fact the best meat I've ever had was the time antelope was the special. The setting is upscale and the conversations are muted in the elegant dining room. The only downside are the still sky high prices. But when you need a good steak, it's well worth it. Pros: great beef Cons: pricey more

Surprisingly good 8/30/2002

I didn't know what to expect b/c SF is not a steak town, IMHO. I ordered the Harris steak, which was terrific and more flavorful and tender than my husband's filet mignon. Caesar salad is very good -- the real deal with the anchovy on top. The Harris martini is a generous pour but should have been icy cold. Service is very efficient. more

Best Steak in SF 8/14/2002

I have had nothing but excellent steaks and great service at Harris'. The only time that I had a problem was when a steak was over cooked and the waiter took it away, brought another and offered me a free desert or after-dinner drink! Pros: Great steak, Great Ambience Cons: Expensive Wine List more

Dismal Service is a Shame! 8/12/2002

When the restaurant still enforced its dress code, the ambience, the food and the service were what one would expect of one of the best restaurants in town. When the dress requirement was dropped, so was the service which now borders on the amateurish (on a good evening) to the embarrassingly bad on other nights. Its a major shame! Especially at those prices. Pros: None Cons: Lousy service more

Not The Best Steak House in Town! 8/1/2002

Very nice setting.Food tasted very good. Our order was accurate and was initially the service was good but tappered off very badly as the night went along.Had to ask for refills on tea and had to ask for a dessert menu from a different waiter that we flagged down. Then when our waitress showed up she asked in a surprised tone"Oh you want to order dessert?".Rather go to Mortons where service is always great. more
