The food has gotten way over priced. They also have a coupon in the Entertainment Coupon book that they have a ""special"" menu for. The coupon says a 20 dollar value. Nope not close. The 2 for 22 dollar menu is the one you have to choose from and it is only one serving. So you actually only save 2 bucks if that. I wanted chicken but I will not pay 11 bucks for 2 pieces of chicken and potato,bread and soup or salad. I have not seen the good waitress named Grace there in a while. The prices are going up. When you say anything about the coupon to the owners they say things are hard. Well duh,that is why people use coupons. False advertisment. I have been going there since their mom was in there and that is 20 plus years.Tonight they lost a customer. more

I was surprised that the prices doubled, But I still think that this is one of my best and as long as they are open, I will go there to eat their fresh seafood... A little work for Better & Faster would be nice, but the food is Great! more

My wife and I went there last night. I ordered a steak and could not get it cooked the way I wanted it. I asked to speak to a manager who treated my concern like a joke and blew us off. He overcharged us and got mad when I pointed it out to him. I can't speak on the food because I didn't get the chance to eat. I would never go there again. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and there is no way this place will stay in business with their customer service. If you are looking for a good time in Detroit, stay away from this place!!! more

I actually went to the Detroit location of Harbor House for my terrible experience. If you have been there you know they are supposed to give free bread with every meal. I paid for 5 meals but I didn't get all the bread and my guest were not happy about it. So I tried to ask for more bread (at least one per person like normal) and they tried to charge me for it. $2 for bread! Are you kidding me? For something that was supposed to come with the meal! So of course I called over the manager/owner who is over both locations and he was the biggest jerk you could ever meet. He was extremely arrogant. He acted like he didn't care if we came back or not and that it was okay for him to go charging arbitrary prices whenever he felt like it. Well it's not! And I am not recommending this place to anyone else. Don't go there if you want to be treated fairly because they don't understand the meaning of fair and equitable. He was a Grade A a**hole! My husband and I were seated at a table and a gal took our drink order and brought appetizers. She never came back to take our dinner order. When we flagged her down she said we told her we were waiting for other people! Huh?? Never said that... never indicated that. So we told her we were not waiting for anyone and could we please order now. Her response was, 'Well, if you had told me correctly in the first place...!' Why would we tell her people were coming to join us?? My husband said, 'Well, we didn't tell you that so can we please order?' She said, 'F*** you and have a nice day!' And walked away!! I visited Harbor House this past weekend for the first time. I am so disappointed I didn't try it sooner. As I walked in I was greeted by a very nice Hostess that sat us promptly. Walking to our table I could not help but notice the beautiful painting of ocean life throughout the entire restaurant. As we sat our waitress came to our table and asked what we would like to drink and explained there table served all you can eat menu...WOW!!! I was amazed by the assortment, from Chicken Pork, Fish, Seafood, and Steaks. No matter what you like they offered it. I had Babyback Ribs,London Broil,Crab Legs and Shrimp everything was amazing. Everything was hot and fresh, I asked the waitress how being all you can eat they keep it all so fresh. She replied everything is cooked when it is ordered, noting sits in a warmer. Besides all that they also included a hot buffet & and a salad bar that is out of this world. I do have to say though ribs are one of my favorites, and I after tring them if anyone knows of any better let me know cause they were the BEST I EVER HAD !!!!! For the very reasonable price anyone would be crazy not to try it. I was also told they have a new location just opened in Greektown. We try to get to the Harbor House on a regular basis. We love the food, it is great quality. The food on the salad bar is good, but the waitstaff does not keep up with food that is either messy or completely out. If you can overlook a group of cranky waitresses and no one there to seat you, you will truly enjoy the food for it is definitely one of the best places in the Metro area for dinner. Ribs are fantastic, shrimp is excellent, love the wings, and unfortunately, this has to be in the atmosphere of cranky waitresses. If management can turn this around, they will have a great place...but then it might really be packed and I will have shot myself in the foot...so maybe I will tolerate the staff and continue to enjoy great food at this establishment. We have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. Where do i start? The salad bar is by far the best anywhere. ALways fresh and the best tasting salads anywhere. the soup is also great from their famous Gumbo to the seafood chowder. Which ever ones they offer when we go they are great. What is crazy is that after the fresh bread and honey butter, soup, salad and your dinner you can re order as often as you want from nearly twenty items I almost forgot their delicious mushroom appetizer which is included. I just found out a new location has opened downtown Detroit. I can not wait to find it. There is nothing else like it in the Metro area. Harbor House is a beautiful restaurant that has all the walls hand painted inside. It gives the feel as if you are under the ocean with all the beautiful fish and coral. I was impressed with the service we recieved. My boyfriend and I had Alaskan King Crab Legs...THEY WERE THE FRESHEST I'VE EVER HAD!! The owner walked around and asked how everything was. When I comminted on the flavor and freshness he explained that they are imported fresh daily from overseas(japan?) WOW! Caught fresh and made for me. Hands down..Harbor House is a must if you are in the mood for seafood, steak, shrimp, salmon, white fish, lobster..gosh i forgot everything that they have. After the experience my wife and I had, I felt that it was my duty to save anybody else from having a similar experience. Upon entering the restaurant, there was nobody in the lobby to seat us. After waiting a few minutes we decided to seat ourselves. Finally a waitress came over, after what seemed like and argument with the manager. She brought a bread basket and fried mushrooms. The bread was burnt to a crisp and the mushrooms were ice cold. She took our drink order and said we had better hurry up and get to the salad bar before they ""Broke it down"". We went to the salad bar and found many of the items had run out, water logged salad, beets in the ranch dressing, and macaroni & cheese that was so hard you could not scoop it. Also, the spoon was so hot it burned my wife when she touched it. When we returned to the table I found the draft beer I had ordered, it was flat and tasted like warm bath water. After a few more minutes our waitress returned, I wondered why it took so long as there were only a couple of people in the whole restaurant, mostly what seemed like employees sitting around the bar. Amazingly all this was nothing compared to what happened next. An argument broke out at the bar. A guy at the bar was yelling very loudly about what seemed like employees, he yelled profanities and pounded on the bar. This guy must have been the owner because nobody called the police. I can't imagine a customer doing this and not being asked to leave. I looked at my wife and without a word we both got up and left. Going to the Harbor House was the worst dining experience that we have ever had. If a friend was talking of going to eat there, I would offer to pay for them to go somewhere else, that's how bad our experience was. This is just good food at a fair price and lots of it. Me and my partner love seafood so had to try this place when we heard they serve all you can eat seafood plus and a waitress brings it too your table hot and fresh each time you order a new entre.hmmm...no dry food that's been sitting for hours at the buffet what a concept and it is quite a good one at that. The food was really good, not five star cuisine but certainly four. The beer batter shrimp and frogs legs were excellent as was the shrimp scampi. The prime rib wasn't the best I've ever had but very good indeed. I didn't really care for the london broil but that could just be me, besides there are many other choices to try. The salad bar was small but fresh and tasty... there was a cold seafood pasta salad that was incredibly good wish I had the recipe. The soups were home made as was the warm bread with a very nice honey butter. Dinner also included an appetizer of battered mushrooms that were very good. Drinks we're reasonably priced as well and ranged from soft drinks to a full bar and minimal but decent wine list. The service was very good and friendly too. Overall a good place if you're hungry though prices are good enough that you won't feel like you didn't get your moneys worth if you don't eat a lot. Worth a try for sure! This is my first review, but I could not resist for this restaurant. I have driven past for years and the parking lot is ALWAYS crowded at dinner time. Finally decided to see what it was all about, and boy am I glad that I did. Not your typical ""all-you-can-eat"" fare. There is prime rib, shrimp, swordfish, salmon, perch, etc and for a little extra you can have crab legs too. All this and the very attentive waitress brings it right to your table! Why deal with the long lines at the casino buffets??? I can't wait to go back, but I think I will go in the early evening-late afternoon before it gets really crowded. But in all fairness, this place is very large and there is plenty of room between the tables. Only complaint my party had was that the coffee could have been better and the key-lime pie was bland and old-tasting. So fill up on the entrees, I say, and you can't be disappointed! Habor House does things the old fashion way. Homemdae soups, Extra fresh salad bar, Home made bread, Homemade honey butter. Chicken marsala that compares to the best Italian restaurants, Large selection of fresh fish, Great Steaks. the meatiest and freshest tasting crab legs around. I know because it is all you can eat and I have tried almost all the items. Very impresive. the atmosphere is to die for. you truly feel you are eating under water in one of the most beautiful coral reefs you could possibly dream up. Works great for us because even if everyone is not that hungry you can order very reasonably priced single serve entrees too. Our favorite restaurant. Unbelievable how the harbor House can give such high quality food and make it waitress served all you can eat. Lots of items. Not the buffet food I was expecting, it was as good or better than most single serve restaurants at the same price. Appetizers were included too. Worth a try extra hungry or not.
