My family and I visited the Hands On Childrens Museum a few years ago and found it dirty, and the staff inattentive. After finding out about their discrimination against an LGBT family, we wouldn't visit again if our lives depended on it. Yes, according to Florida laws they (regrettably) have the right to discriminate against LGBT persons. I, as a consumer, have the right to show my disgust with their policies by not only taking my business elsewhere, but encouraging others to do the same. Homophobia is hate. Pure and simple. Take your hate elsewhere. more

We are long-time members of this museum and will not be renewing our membership, until their membership policy is changed. Currently, the policy is that only one Mom and one Dad can be on a family membership. This policy requires anyone who may be a single parent or a same-sex spouse to pay extra for their membership.\r \r While I understand the need for a business to protect themselves, there are plenty of membership plans at other Jacksonville attractions that state two named adults and the children under 18 living in a single household. \r \r I will not be renewing my membership or visiting this museum until the policy changes to be more inclusive of the many families that live and play in Jacksonville, FL. more

As of 6/8/13, if your family does not consist of a mom and a dad (meaning mom and grandma, two moms, grandma and aunt, two dads, dad and brother, etc) you will be charged $10 more for membership than a family with a mom and a dad listed on the membership form. more

Hands On Children's Museum.. My Kids Love it 6/25/2008

We have a membership to the Hands on Children's Museum.. For every day admission, I think it's 3.50 for ages 1-3 and for ages 4 on up including adults is $5.50.. You can't even go to the zoo for that price!! \r \r We stay an average of 2-4 hours.. My kids would sleep there if I let them!!! There is a post office, a grocery store, a vet's office, a basketball area with wheel chairs, a bank, a dress up area, a place just for small people under 3, there are also other exibits all of which my children LOVE!! I have had my 1 year old who cried when we had to leave (He wanted to stay longer) all the way up to age 15 they also loved it... We have had several birthday parties there and let me tell you, the men always end up playing basket ball and having as much fun as the adults!!! \r \r I give this place 5 stars.. You can play all day!! We got a yearly membership which is cheap compared to all of the other memberships out there zoo, and other places!!! \r \r If you haven't been, you've got to bring your children!! They will love it and it gives you a chance to be a kid again too!! Pros: Great place to Go especially on Hot days! Cons: Kids learn, and have too much fun and don't want to leave Smile!! more
