Larry Handley has hired a company which posts fake positive reviews for him on many review sites. They are each posted a week apart and they are not real clients or even real persons. If you check the profiles of these fake clients, they have given fake positive reviews to businesses all over the country and certain businesses have multiple reviews by these imposters. This is unethical, dishonest and maybe illegal. It is deceptive to potential clients and unfair to competing attorneys. As a real client, Handley was a nightmare for me and by far the worst attorney I have ever had. He was incompetent, dishonest and lacked communication and effort. The Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee significantly reduced my bill because of his errors and unfair charges. He would not have reduced my bill unless forced to do so. He caused me much stress, frustration, wasted time and money. He promised to reduce my bill because of his errors, but he did not. He also billed me for a meeting and a phone call which never occurred - he twice said he would adjust the bill for it, but he never did. He told me it was mandatory for him to be present at mediation, but I found out that it was not mandatory. I felt he had a complete lack of respect for me as a client. He repeatedly failed to carry out my instructions after promising me he would do so. I spoke to several attorneys who said he made critical errors which cost me thousands of dollars in court. I write this as a warning so nobody else has to go through what I did with this guy. more

Larry Handley has been artificially padding his online reviews using fake names and fake positive reviews. I have researched many names, including Margery Arizmendi, Shauna Dowey, Deena Sheffield, Jamz Coachman and FL Baumgarten and cannot see that they live in Iowa or are real persons. Handley was a horrible lawyer for me. he was incompetent, dishonest and lacked communication and effort. more

I had a huge problem with honesty regarding my attorney, Larry Handley of Ankeny, Iowa of the Handley Law Firm. He made serious errors in court (cost me thousands of dollars) for which he promised several times to adjust my bill, but he later went back on his word and refused. I had to file a complaint and finally the Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee forced him to reimburse me a significant amount due to his errors and inappropriate charges. He also misled me on whether it was mandatory for him to be present at a mediation, for which he charged me. I found out it was not mandatory as he had told me. He charged me for a meeting and phone call which never occurred, but he refused to provide a record or proof, even after my repeated requests. I knew there was no meeting because I worked all day that day and have the record. The Attorney Disciplinary Board and the Client Security Commission never allowed me to see anything regarding their investigative process after I filed my complaints. I have no idea what Handley was asked, if anything. Handley was never required, to my knowledge, to provide any proof or record of the phantom meeting and phone call. A major flaw in the Disciplinary process is that lawyers are "investigated" and "judged" by their fellow lawyers. Handley is on the Grievance Committee, which surely makes fellow attorneys reluctant to discipline him. Handley is also padding his online reviews himself, to make up for the bad ones, which is unethical, phony and pathetic. more

I've used Larry for a number of cases and he's not only qualified but he's very responsive to my questions and has provided me outstanding results! more

How unethical, pathetic and phony for Handley to pad his ratings himself and with his friends. All of a sudden Larry Handley has obviously been having his friends write him good reviews on many sites to make up for all the poor reviews. He has even given himself 5 stars on several review sites to pad his ratings. All of my complaints are valid and documented. Handley is making a false statement when he says that all my complaints have been denied by different agencies. The Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee reduced by bill by $1700 because he misled me on whether it was mandatory for him to be present at mediation, he broke his spoken and written promise to reimburse me for a huge error he made in court, and he unjustly charged me interest while the case was continuing and our fee dispute was ongoing. I strongly question the validity of all these positive reviews which have suddenly appeared at once. more

ALL of the complaints are valid and well documented and Handley even admitted to some. He is making false statements when he says all the complaints are unjustified and were denied by different agencies. The Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee determined that there were inappropriate charges and reduced my fee by $1700. These were for 1) misleading me as to whether it was mandatory for him to be present at mediation, 2) for going back on his promise to work with me to reimburse me for an error he made in court (he even had it in writing and still refused to reimburse me until forced to do so by the Committee), and for charging me interest while our case was continuing and our billing dispute was ongoing. This is only the tip of the iceberg of all he did to mess up my case and treat me poorly as a client. It seems unethical and pathetic to me that he is giving himself 5 stars now on many review sites and having his friends give him good reviews now to cover up his poor ones. more

These are merely screen names. NONE of the complaints are fictitious. Handley promised to change my bill due to his errors and inappropriate charges and he did not. I had to take action with the Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee to force him to reduce my bill. They reduced it by about $1700. Is that fictitious, Larry? The fiction comes from your false statements and lack of honesty when dealing with your clients. Handley still refuses to show me proof of a meeting and phone call he billed me for in error (he had promised twice to correct the error,but he did not) after my repeated requests. He has no proof or records of it, because they never occurred. If you would have dealt with me fairly and honestly, I wouldn't have to warn everyone about your extremely poor service and effort. more

I do not have a client named Rush, Billy, Shane, Bob B. or Steve. These are all one and the same person, Mike G., who is making statements that are untrue. Compare the dates and the comments. more

I give Larry Handley the lowest possible rating. I was extremely disappointed with his representation, communication and service. I do not recommend him. I filed a complaint against him with the Attorney Disciplinary Board and Fee Arbitration Committee. more
