They always tell you what needs to be done and what can be put off if you need to wait awhile to get some money together, so they're definitely honest. Overall, they have excellent service. I have gone to Handel Automotive Services for probably 25 years. I have had them take care of all of the cars my wife, my son, and I have ever owned. They keep excellent records, so that when I go to sell or trade a vehicle I have complete documentation. I trust them explicitly to tell me exactly what is wrong and give me the best options. I doubt that they are the cheapest place in town, but they are the ones I trust the most. In the end that is very good. My wife has a 1997 Chrysler that Handel has done everything for out of warrant. It is in excellent condition, and except for oil changes and tires, we have probably put in only $2,000 for repairs during the 14 years we have had it. more

I have used Handel Automotive Services for many years and they have always been able to take care of me. They get me in an out quickly. I have gone to them for everything from oil changes to basic car repair and upkeep. I think the easiest people to work with in the community of Monona. more

I love Handel Automotive Services. I belong to a business referral group with Bobbette and they are the only auto repair shop in the group. I refer my clients to Handel all the time because I know I can trust them and they do a good job. Aside from my clients, Handel does work for my family and friends as well. They have gone above and beyond for me, and it is really great to work with another female owned and operated business. I feel very comfortable going to them and having them work on my vehicle. They even picked my car up from Omaha when it broke down. They had just repaired my timing belt and I was on my way to a wedding in Omaha when my car shut off. I called Handel, and they were able to determine exactly what had happened, and they drove their flatbed truck to Omaha and picked up my car. They are good. I mainly go to Handel Automotive Services for oil changes. I have not yet had them do major repair work, but I have them look everything over and they give me all the options. Matt is the main representative I deal with, and he has been awesome. Whenever I have a question, he answers it right away. I have never felt the were trying to take advantage of me. We have had several different auto repairs done over the last few years on a 2002 Chevy Suburban that I own. Handel Automotive Services has done them satisfactorily. When there were some issues that we had, they responded and had the vehicle taken back in and corrected. Everything was resolved in a professional and timely manner. I have used them probably since the early 1990s, so 15 plus years, and they have taken care of a lot of different vehicles. When you come in, the front end staff greets you in a warm and friendly manner. Their customer service is good. If you need to have transportation, they make sure it is taken care of. They will give you a ride to your work or another location. It is very helpful. When Handel Automotive Services promises to have a vehicle back, the promise is kept within a reasonable period. Bill Harris, who is the service writer and I think a mechanic as well, has done a very good job for me. He has kept me informed. more

There is a garage next door to where I work, but I choose instead to drive across town to go to Handle Automotive...and for good reason too: They are simply the best! They're kind, professional, and prompt. They don't pressure you into 'fixing' things that aren't broken, but are very informative in that they make sure that you fully understand everything that might be necessary and/or urgent in the future. Your safety and satisfaction is their #1 priority...not how much they bank as a result of your visit. more

It all started out when Steve worked at a service station about 2 blocks from my house 20 something years ago. He went out and started his own business at Handel Automotive Services, and I followed him there. He takes care of my car, my wife's car, my company cars, and my 3 kids' cars. I have never had a question or compliant with anything that he has done. His service is great, and he will even answer my questions so that I can do little things on my own. I am always told what it will cost and how long it will take for repairs. I can drop off my keys and they will come to get my car, as well as drop it off. If the repairs are going to take awhile, they will give me a loaner car. They have just done so many things for us. My daughter lives 75 miles away and she still comes to Handel Automotive. At this point it is more like a family. Even my sisters and cousins use Steve. They really take care of everything. The last thing that shows how great they are is about Monona-moola cash. The Chamber of Commerce is selling Monona-moola cash to help keep business in the area even though they are redoing the roadway. Handel Auto emailed my daughter 3 different times to remind her to pick up some of the cash so that she could save money on her repairs. It is those little things that they do for us that make it so great. They really take care of us, and I feel it is a great family-owned, community-oriented business. Fred Kane more

I have been dealing with Handel Automotive Services for more than 30 years. I'm automotively savvy and feel that preventative maintenance really helps my cars. Handel Auto really helps me keep my cars in good condition. I have never had an unsatisfactory service from Handel. They always make good on their work. No one's perfect, but if something doesn't work Bill immediately test drives the vehicle to see what the problem is. He then follows through and makes sure everything is fixed correctly. The staff is professional, dependable, and has great follow-through. I feel that when you find a good mechanic you should hang on to them for life. Unlike dealers, who usually charge a very high hourly rate and only know their specific cars, Handel Automotive gives a great service for the price and is knowledgeable about many different cars. My Toyota Camry, a 1987, has had all its service done at Handel Automotive and it still handles like a new car. In fact, I still get an average of 37 mpg on the freeway.
