Best

It's funny to see comments going so far into the year when the restaurant was closed back in March. Yet the owner was rude in June of 2007- are you sure you were in the right rest...

Worst

Entered restaurant at 7:35 pm -- sign on door said dinner is served until 8. Owner was rude, didn't even greet us when we walked in, just barked at us ""we are not seating anyone ...

Funny too see 12/29/2007

My favorite restaurant! 7/15/2007

This was my favorite restaurant in the Triangle. It served the best, most authentic cuban food. The Ropa Vieja was to die for. Unfortunately, the reason I write in the past tense is the restaurant is closed. This is a travesty. A gem of Wake Forest is gone...and this is one very disappointed Wake Forest resident.... Pros: food taste, price/value, location Cons: small more

Rude owner! 6/29/2007

Entered restaurant at 7:35 pm -- sign on door said dinner is served until 8. Owner was rude, didn't even greet us when we walked in, just barked at us ""we are not seating anyone for dinner, you can only get takeout!"" All we wanted were dinner salads, not some complex time-consuming meal. Needless to say we got our dinner elsewhere and never went back!! Why pay for such rudeness when there's other restaurants in town that know what customer service is all about! Pros: centrally located in wake forest Cons: rude owner, does not follow posted policies, tiny cramped interior, inadequate parking more

Something Different 8/27/2006

God bless Havana Jax and their delicious Cuban fare, which draws our dinner dollars about every other week. I've tried several menu items but keep coming back to the delicious Lime Marinated Pork, or a chicken sandwich with a fruity salsa if I want something lighter. They always have really interesting specials - my friend is addicted to their Caldo Gallego (Galician Stew), which is technically a special but almost always available. The yuca or plantain sides that come with every meal are particularly yummy. This is a family-owned restaurant run by friendly people who actually know what Cuban food is supposed to taste like. Love it. Pros: Awesome Food, Family-Owned Cons: Strip Mall setting may be a turn-off for some more

good food, but small portions for the money 6/22/2006

the food was excellent, but the portions of the entrees we got were very small especially for the price of each entree. My husband was still hungry after eating his shrimp creole that was $11.99. I would recommend this place for a good lunch with little atmosphere. Pros: great food, small eatery, very friendly staff Cons: hot inside, no ambience, would not take coupon with no expiration date for 1st timers more

Wonderful food. 6/9/2006

Their corn and shrimp soup is amazing. Food was equally as good. Can't wait to go back and try their other dishes\r Service was very friendly and fast. Although seating area is small, its warm and comfortable.\r Would recommend to friends. Pros: Very good and fresh food. Friendly and quick wait Cons: Hard to find unless you know where to go. more

The only Cuban restaurant in town 4/30/2006

This is like going to Little Havana! The food is the genuine, honest to goodness Cuban food. Owner and her family are from Cuba and know how to cook(try the croquetas)! The waitresses are friendly, helpful, and always nice. And the prices are great! You have to got go here for awesome food! Pros: food, service, price more

You can't go wrong 4/23/2006

Don't be detered by the strip mall setting or the ambience. The food here is consistently great and the value can't be beat. I have tried several things on the menu and the specials and I have never been disappointed. Warning -- this is a local favorite and there are not a lot of tables so go early or plan to take out ! Pros: food, price more

Delicious and Amazing 11/7/2005

I have always found the food at Havana Jax to be fantastic and authentic - perfect for those of us in Wake Forest who want a little taste of the exotic. I've had the marinated pork with tangy-sweet marinated yuca, black beans, and rice. It sounds simple but it's incredible. I've also had the media noche and the cubano tropical sandwiches - both outstanding, especially the cubano tropical. Delicious chicken on thick toasted bread with mango salsa, cheese, and sweet mustard. That also sounds really simple but the flavors were wonderful together. We also had tres leche cake for dessert - so good! Always intriguing specials to choose from as well. I wish we had more restaurants like this one in the triangle, where the focus is on the food. It feels like you're eating at your (Cuban) grandmother's house. Go check out Havana Jax - you won't be sorry! Pros: Delicious food, Cozy atmosphere, Family-owned Cons: Nothing! Go! Go! more

Awesome Place 6/8/2005

I have only been there once for breakfast, but it was really good. I have been dying to go back for lunch or dinner but just haven't had the chance yet. The waitress I had was really nice, and I even had the pleasure of talking a bit of Spanish with her. That's alwasy fun. more

Delicious and cozy 2/27/2005

Although the space small the flavors are HUGE! Tried it (and Cuban) for the first time this past week and can not wait to go back. Highly recommended. Pros: amazing food, easy to find more

Highly Recommended 1/29/2005

This is AUTHENTIC food that you can not get anywhere else in Raleigh. Prices are very reasonable, service is excellent. My family is Cuban and from Miami and this is our taste of home. We visit atleast 2x a week. Carribbean/Cuban is very different from Mexican so dont expect it to be similar to Mexican. more

Great Authentic Food 1/23/2005

We absolutely loved Havana Jax. The food is really good and at affordable prices and it's just great to find good Cuban/Caribean food in this area. Don't miss the croquetas....mmmmmm!!! If you are going you should make a reservation though because it gets really crowded. more

Worth the drive! 12/1/2004

The surroundings are a bit cramped, but it is worth the drive to get the fabulous Cuban food. Every dish I and my friends have tried on each trip has been top notch. The service is friendly and helpful. You also can't beat the value for the money. Pros: Food, Prices more

Great Ambience & service, average food 11/22/2004

I was very attracted to the layou of the restaurant. It was simple but yet comfortable and the staff was very attentive. However the fod lacked in several ways. I ordered a rice that was a bit cold and somewhat salty. The yuca frita was a bit over fried. I will give it another try soon though! more

Havana Jax is Cuban Food at its best! 2/22/2004

Amazing Cuban food at Havana Jax in Wake Forest. No matter where you are in Raleigh, it is worth the drive. Authentic Cuban food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Try the Vaca Frita....and the croquetas.....and the black beans....but everything is great. Eat in or take out - prompt & easy. I have Cuban roots and this food reminds me of my grandmother's cooking. I just moved to Raleigh from NY and Miami where there are some outstanding Cuban restaurants - and Havana Jax is right up there with the best of them. Pros: Great Food more

Check your dates please 1/3/2004
