This is a nice place to go for a "change of pace" if you've been doing a long string of "standard" restaurant dining. This is one of those Teppan steakhouse restaurants, where they cook right at your table. They have an array of choices, including shrimp, scallops, steak, and chicken. True to being a Japanese restaurant, they also offer sushi on the menu. The main attraction is the show, especially if you have young children. My kid's enjoyed the fire on the grill, especially, when the chef sectioned an onion into tapering concentric rings, and lit it on fire, making a "volcano". Overall, we had a nice time. The grilled vegetables, shrimp, and scallops were filling. I did find that the exceptional grilled teppan flavor I was expecting was somehow missing, though the food was still good. As a leftover, the rice and shrimp were great a couple days later, however. The sushi was okay, but Toyo Japanese Restaurant on Edison is considerably better in this regard. It was my wife's birthday, and for $5.00 extra, they'll sing Happy Birthday for you in English and Japanese, do a candle ceremony with a Buddha, and offer two carved pineapple sections, and an instant camera picture to boot. Ambiance is nice and can be lively. The little pedestrian bridge over the mini-pond to enter the dining room is a quaint touch. You should note that it is very likely you will be seated with another party around a common cooking area. If you prefer privacy, or if you don't want to sit with people who you don't know, you may want to consider other dining options. On that note, there is a separate bar where you can have drinks and only sushi, if you wish. We've dined on sushi in the bar as well, and its pretty cozy, with a fair amount of small tables in the room, perfect for two. Although we've never seen many people in here for any length of time, keep in mind you do run the risk of running into second hand smoke if you do choose the bar room - its a smoking section.
Pros: Cuisine and entertainment balance each other well, good portions
Cons: Flavor was slightly bland, sushi quality inconsistent
