Great doctor, but not enough time 9/30/2010

I've spent quite a bit of time sitting and waiting, but as soon as the doctor comes in he's gone. Last time I was there I felt like it was just a whirlwind! I was supposed to have blood drawn and the nurse told me I was good to go home. So I told her I thought I was supposed to have some tests run and she looks at the chart and says ""oh"". (Same thing again another time when I was told to schedule an ultrasound.) I've had a couple of procedures done, but feel like I never know why I'm having these things done or what all these procedures entail. I'm still having some awful problems and have not conceived, but I also have no answers as to what is causing all of this. I'm very comfortable with the doctor when he is attentive. He has a personality that makes the atmosphere of the exam room more relaxed. I hate to find another doctor, but I'm not certain if I can deal with the lack of attention and the rude nurses I've encountered. You would think a nurse would be more understanding-especially being female, but I will never call there with questions again after my last encounter. Each time I've called, the 2 nurses I've spoken with have made me feel like an idiot and a nuisance. If you're lucky enough to only ever have to speak directly to Dr. Hamilton, then you likely will have a much better experience. more

Front Desk is horrendous at Hermitage! 4/30/2010

One of the doctors at this practice was recommended to me by a friend. She warned me that the nurse practioner she met with at her first appointment was rude and that she cried after she left, though. I thought I was prepared. I wasn't. When I first called the practice, the receptionist chastised me for not making my first appointment earlier (it was the end of my first trimester). I have been pregnant in 3 states. In the city I was first pregnant in, an OB wouldn't see a pregnant woman until second trimester. I assumed that it was acceptable to wait until the beginning of second trimester to be seen. Apparently, Tennessee Women's Care in Hermitage disagrees. They suggest between 4 and 6 weeks. I suggest if you want to go to this practice, you'd better take a pregnancy test a week. You don't want to miss their very limited window of acceptability! \r I made an appointment for a consultation only. The *consultation* cost hundreds of dollars. They did a full STD work up and everything. I asked if I could refuse the STD tests, and they said no. Really? My legal rights to refuse testing don't apply there? Wow. I'd hate to see what other situations might occur where I can't exercise my legal rights.\r The practice didn't sit right with me so I went with another one. I called back with a billing question and they were very rude again. I will walk into an ER before I set foot in this practice again. Pros: I've heard that the doctors are good Cons: rude receptionists, won't answer questions more

Don't go to the Hermitage location!!!! 3/9/2009

I have been having some issues with my monthly visitor. They did bld work and told me everything was fine in Feb. 08. So they gave me some birth control pills. Well all that did was made me sick. After that they put me on the depo shot. Still after that my issues still arose. I called them numerous about my issues and they said it was normal. I thought that it can't be. So i decided to change doctors. My first visit with my new doctor she noticed that my bld work from a year ago had some things that made her concerned. My new doctor said that something should have been done a year ago and that was the problem i was having. So TN Women's Care in Hermitage did not do what they were supposed to when my bld work came in too them. There idea was cover it up with pills or a shot rather than fixing the issue. I would not recommend anyone going here. Pros: There is not any Cons: They are not knowledgeable. more

Dr. Hamilton and his staff are the BEST!! 9/24/2008

I was 35 years old (36 when I delivered) and had never been to an OB/GYN doctor before due to MAJOR anxiety attacks. When I became pregnant I HAD to go. I let the receptionist know of my anxieties/fears and she made the appointment with Dr. Hamilton. I thank GOD she did because he is the best and has the best bedside manner ever and put me at ease. The staff is great and they ALL go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They all addressed any concerns I ever had. I had to have a c-section and Dr. Hamilton was the BEST, again!! I had my baby at Summit Medical Center and have to say they were great, too! The anesthesiologist who put in the epidural was very professional and let me know each step of the way what he was doing before he did it. It did not even hurt....no pinching or anything! The staff in the operating/c-section room were great! I have never felt like I was in better hands! The ultrasound technician, Greg, is a hoot! I can not think of one negative experience I had in Dr. Hamilton's office nor Summit Hospital! I will never go to another OB/GYN doctor other than Dr. Hamilton, that is certain!! Pros: Dr. Hamilton is a great doctor and his staff are the best! Cons: I can not think of one con about Dr. Hamilton, his staff nor Summit Medical Center. more

Doctors have too many patients!!!! 9/17/2008

I am rating this hospital 1 star and that is ONLY because of the few nurses that were very nice during my 2nd stay and for the very knowledgeable Infectious Disease Doctors. I will just list off my many issues that I had while in the hospital: was admitted to be induced, come to find out the baby was breached (would have been nice for Dr. McCullough to do a ultrasound when she questioned this during one of my doctor visits), the nurse knicked the wrong spot on my spine when giving me my epidural, Dr. McCullough knicked the main artery when giving my son his circumcision on the last day I was there, I ended up having to take him back to the emergency room that night because it would not stop bleeding and my son was in so much pain, while doing my c-section Dr. McCullough knicked my bowl duct which caused an infection and caused me to go back into the hospital for another week. So, at this point I have paid alot of unnecessary money to Summit. I am actually due a refund because unfortunately I did the right thing by paying a bill that they sent to me but come to find out my insurance does not want to pay Summit until they receive an explanation as to why I was admitted for the 2nd time. But of course Summit is being very difficult about giving me my money back! Dr. McCullough is a nice person but clearing has too many patients and is too busy. She did not even remember who I was or what she put me through when I went back for my check-up. I should have to listened to the many people that told me to switch doctors and hospitals when I found out I was pregnant! more

best ob/gyn ever!!! 9/8/2008

This doctors office is the best i went there during my entire pregnancy with my daughter and i am now pregnant with my second child and will be seeing dr hamilton throughout this pregnancy they treat you so good and the man who does the ultrasounds is hilarious and keeps you laughing, i would definately send anyone who asked me whos the best ob/gyn in nashville i would definately tell them dr hamiltons office...hes also very gentle and caring... Pros: gentle, caring, funny, friendly Cons: you usually have to wait for a while but they always make sure youre comfortable during the wait. more

I agree... 4/24/2008

I completely agree with the ""Doc in a hurry."" I was not on TennCare when I went in for my visit over a year ago... I had Blue Cross Blue Shield. The Doctor treated me the same way. I live directly across the street from this place and have not been back or to any other doctor in Davidson County since. I am from Jackson, Tn and my GYN was so good there, I am afraid I will never find one as caring as he. I do know that I do not recommend this place. more

A Doc in a Hurry 5/4/2007

I actually like the atmosphere in Dr. Beatty's office. The nurses are very nice and the front desk ladies are very helpful and kind. Its the doc who seems to not put forth any effort in getting to know the patient, what is going on with her, her concerns and so forth. I went for my third visit with him today and it just confirmed what I already knew would happen. He was in and out of my room in less than 4 minutes, did not even say anything about the cramping and spotting I have been having (the nurse charted this in my file just a few minutes before and seemed very concerned) and did not even perform the pap that I was specially set up for today. It feels to me as if he just wants to get the visit over with as fast as possible so that he can move on to the next patient. I guess having Tenncare puts us at a lower level of importance on the doctors priority list. I cant help but wonder how I might be treated if I went in with something other than government insurance.\r Otherwise, the office is like any other, the staff and nurses are very pleasant, but if you dont want a doc who spends NO time with you and seems to get irritated if you ask too many questions, then I just cannot recommend Dr. Brian Beatty. Pros: Wonderful office staff and nurses, easy access inside Hospital Cons: Doctor rushes, spends no time getting to know the patient more
