More organized 9/10/2009

I've been to both this location and the location at Crossroads Mall. This place is by far more organized and spacious. I am usually able to find what I was looking for here. It's great to browse, and do some reading to determine if it's a book you want. One tip though, don't forget to check the clearence section, as you may find the book you want cheaper! more

Bookstores are for browsing 12/5/2006

I've always loved 2nd hand bookstores. Where else can you hunt through the shelves and find that book you've been seeking in an almost new condition for half the price? It's cramped, you can't always find the latest, but hey... it *is* a used (mostly) book store! They also have gently used CDs, DVDs and oh-mi-gosh-n-golly... LPs! I've found many a treasure in a closeout for 50cents each. Shop often as their stock moves in and out very quickly, especially for gift books. Also check the bargain racks. You never know when a book you've got in hand just happens to also be on the bargain rack. A little more dog-eared perhaps, but still readable! In December, if you spend $30, you'll also get a calendar for the next year with discount coupons in it. Altogether... a great place to spend a rainy afternoon and come home with more books than you originally planned to get. more

Books for Half the Price 11/22/2006

I love books, and I love them even better when they are half the price. This bookstore isn't as new, clean, and shiny as some of the full-priced bookstores, but it usually has what I'm looking for, and usually has at least one used / low-cost copy. Plus I can bring in old books I want to sell, and though I won't be starting a business anytime soon selling old books, the little dough I do make from them allows me to buy a couple of new ones off the shelves. Overall a good deal. more

Good quantity of CD's, tapes and books 4/15/2006

I found several classic science fiction books to add to my collection. I browsed the CD's but since I wasn't looking for anything specific didn't buy any, but was delighted to find some in house. I found a delightful book of early Celtic poems which will add to my pre-Ireland planning set. I found many, many poetry books which I appreciated. The staff was prompt at checking me out. I didn't even have to take a bag, another plus since my bag supply is always high. Fun place to shop. more

Outdated and Too Jam-Packed 3/23/2006

In the old days, i.e. pre-Amazon, Half Price Books was a good deal. But in today's day and age, I'd rather stay at home and buy online. This bookstore is cluttered and it's hard to find anything. The prices aren't that great since you can always get exactly what you want from an online seller, with free shipping or whatever coupon or promotion they have going on. And, it takes far less time to find the book also! more

Half Price Books - Various Locations 3/23/2006

I frequent the Half Price Books at Crossroads Mall and on Roosevelt Way in Seattle. I have yet to go to the one in downtown Redmond, where I live, but I read in the "Redmond Reporter" that the basement is haunted and why would I want to experience that? Haha. My kids are little but they DEVOUR books (although they are not reading yet, go figure - I can't tell you how many thousands of stories I have read!) and I don't want them to get bored with the same old ones. I find Half Price books to be a great resource to save money on children's titles. I have had 99% positive experience with them although one time I bought a book only to discover it had lots of pages torn out of the center. A friend who is also a frequent shopper at Half Price advised me to return it to them but I had already discarded the receipt and my obsessive little boy had insisted that I remove the price tag. Oh well, $3.98 down the toilet! =) more

Half Price Books 3/19/2006

Next to Starbucks at Crossroads Mall in Bellevue you will find a cramped book store the has the aroma of old books filling the air. Half Price Books Records and Magazines is a book lovers treasure trove. It may be difficult to maneuver around the crammed book shelves but if you look long enough you might just locate something you've always wanted but could never find. I'm not that into books, but I did come across such a find in the likes of a set of old material bound books that my mother never got to complete. Now my daughter has the whole set. We did tried in the past to find them on eBay but they were going for over $20.00 each. At Half Price Books we picked up the 10 missing for $3.00 each. Treasures can be found if we only look. more

Half Price Books - A booklover's paradise 3/4/2006

I've been going to this store since it was located on 6th Avenue, before the fire, and it has never failed to provide me with far too many hours of browsing and too much money I'm tempted to spend! They have the largest sci-fi/fantasy section of any of the used-bookstores in town, as well as a HUGE variety of other books. Be sure to check for the Dollar sale books.... they're usually tucked in a back corner, and feature books that have been in the store unsold a long, long time. Some of them are such gems that I really wonder why they were overlooked so long! Besides books, Halfprice features computer software (and it's not even prehistoric software!), music (CDs, tapes, and LPs), tarot cards, calendars, bookmarks, and many other items. They even have a calendar you get at the end of the year with coupons in it, for each month of the next year. more

looking for deals 10/22/2005

If you are looking for a book on a particular topic but don’t have a title in mind this is a great place to go to get a good deal. Some books are overstocks that are still new. They also buy used books. Don’t expect a lot of cash for your used books. It is a great way to clear a bookshelf though. Your old unneeded books are able to find their way to someone that can enjoy them. Half Price Books also carries calendars DVDs and CDs. more

You Can Get Lost in Here 8/1/2005

Half Price Books is located in a cool old building in downtown Redmond. It has books on almost every subject you can think of, for reasonable prices. I could look around this store for hours, and still not be finished looking. Half Price will also buy books and movies from you, if you want to get rid of them. I don't know how much money they give you for the books, though, since I haven't sold any to them yet. My kids like this store because they have a large section of children's books. They get to take something home every time we go, since the books aren't expensive. more

Good for readers 7/26/2005

This place is as big as a Barnes and Nobles, but way homier (no Starbucks, though). This is a great place for a lunchtime browse. They've also got a great selection of half price video games and movies. With the price of books being through the roof these days, half price isn't bad. more

Great Books Store, Wonderfull Prices! 7/25/2005

I LOVE Half Price Books! They have so many books and they're all such a great price! My mom and I have found some wonderful hard to find books here and so cheap too! It's also very easy to get too, and it's set up so the books are easy to find. :-) more

Cheapest Place For Used Books! 7/12/2005

Half-Price books is a small stoor in downtown redmond -- yet it's packed with books. Two floors spanning almost every genre. All used books are at most half-off cover price. This means old books, which have a very low pre-inflation cover price, can be gotten extremely cheap! The selection can be hit or miss -- like most used book stores the selection can be great or it can be terrible. After a few visits though you should definately have a few books worth picking up! more

Not Half Bad 6/25/2005

If you want a book and want it for cheap, chances are you will find it at half-priced books. And if you don't care about tiny tiny writing, battered book spines, and writing in the margins, you can get the books really cheap. You can frequently get old editions in good condition for under a dollar. The people who work there are also very friendly, and your shopper peers? Pure book worms. more
