Breakfast is great - But where's the biscuits and gravy? 2/6/2012

Good place to eat - they just insist that bisquits and gravy should be made with hamberger...... Not sausage......How about a choice and see which is the most popular. more

Something vomited on my plate 9/23/2009

I went here because all the reviews and some of my friends from the area said the food would be great and the staff was really nice. I found both of these to be outlandish, blasphemous LIES. The waitress were rude and constantly ignoring me as I tried to get there attention for just a cup of water. My waitress that I actually had, I believe her name was Alicia, WREAKED of cigarettes and pot. When I finally did get my food, the poor girl was so stoned she tripped and dropped the food which ended up with me waiting another 30 minutes for 2 waffles, some eggs, and hash-browns on day when there was maybe 4 other customers. When I finally did receive my food it looked like someone seriously just vomited up waffle batter and runny eggs on a plate. All in all the food sucks, the waitress I had sucks, and the whole place feels like your walking in to a mortuary and being prepped for death and it felt appropriate since it seemed like something or someone seemed to have met there death on that poor plate I was served. more

Chicken supreme burger & pork chops 9/13/2006

Both of these choices were very excellent every time I have ordered them at Hale's. They have an excellent breakfast as well, but I mainly like to choose lunch and dinner. The place just went through a remodel and looks great, service there is the best I've seen around. more

Let's be honest: Hangover food. 4/26/2006

That's what it is and I embrace it lovingly. The day after the Verboort sausage fest, Three bedraggled and sour-of-stomach wanderes are welcomed in to the squishy booths, given a gallon of spartan sauce and a plate heaped with wonderful food. The three travellers are refreshed, renewed, and several pounds worth of hash browns heavier. It isn't spectacular food, but it is consistently good, and that's better than iffy brilliance in my book. more

Hale's...Been Around Awhile 12/29/2005

If you are hungry you will definitely find a friend in Hale's Restaurant. No tummy leaves empty. That said, I was not as impressed with the food as some of the locals around here seem to be. Maybe it's because I'm still pretty new to the area and I don't know the history of Hales. Apparently, it's been here for quite some time. Even so, the breakfast and lunch items are a good, solid OK, but nothing more. You get full. You get very full. But somehow you are still left feeling empty. For me, eating is a spiritual experience, especially if I'm paying 8.99 for a plate of eggs and ham, yet I didn't feel any better in the soul for having eaten there. I did, however, feel bigger in the butt. The service was not as peppy and vibrant as I've come to expect from restaurants lately. It can be argued that is a good thing, in this age of false chirpiness among wait staff. Still, I'd like to see a bit more smiling than snarling when someone is taking my order. Go for the food, there's lots of it. Just don't expect a gourmet menu or a Starbucks staff. It's more 1975 than 2005. more

Best Breakfast Ever 12/28/2005

I highly recommend Hales for their omelette's. This is the very best one I have ever had and I have been eating there for 25 years. They are huge and fluffy and the hash browns are the shredded kind. Two adults can easily get full on this. The other food is good but average compared to the breakfast. I am not a pancake eater but those I have dined with say they make a fine cake. There are few good breakfast places in our area and this is the best one. more
