Hair by Flora at Impulse Salon

i had a bad experience with Flora. When I called to make an appt., she scheduled it for February 14th, Valentine's Day. Then the day of the appt. she called to ask me if I could come in earlier....I couldn't because I was at work and had scheduled the original appt. for after work. I had told her that we could reschedule it and she said no and kept it at the orig. time. Well talk about being rushed. When I got there she was on the phone and took her time on her phone call before she got to me. Then while in the chair, she kept getting personal phone calls which meant that I had to sit there till she was done with her phone conversation. Then when she did get back to cutting and styling my hair, she rushed thru it and then got back on another phone call. When I left the salon, she was standing outside chit chatting on the phone....I was really disappointed in this place because all the reviews were so good. Pros: null Cons: null more

You won't be disappointed. She is extremely nice and very honest. She is a very skilled artist. I have difficult hair and had been having a hard time finding someone who could do a good job. I found her on the internet and saw she had good reviews so I tried her. Love her! I thought the salon was adorable. Like you stepped into a time machine that took you back to the 70s. That worried me actually but Flora is so good, it didn't matter. Funny salon, super nice, highly skilled, unpretentious people (the other stylists are a crack up and also very nice). Flora and "Impulse Salon" are a gem in today's cranky world. Highly recommend her. more

Yesterday I was in desperate need of a haircut and color, and I was looking for someone local in the Burbank area. I read some reviews about Hair by Flora on Citysearch and decided to give her a try. I couldn't be happier with the results! Flora did a fantastic job with my hair. My goal was to lighten my hair without bleaching or damaging it. Flora took the time to talk with me about what I wanted and how to accomplish it without damaging my hair. After she was finished with my hair, I had beautiful highlights and the perfect cut. Not only is Flora incredibly talented and knowledgeable about hair, she is also an amazing person with a kind heart and a wonderful personality. I will definitely be going back to Flora in the future. I would recommend Flora to anyone looking for a great hairstylist! more

I am moving back to Burbank, and had to find a new hair person. Have been through 4 horrifying people-burned hair, bad color, don't listen, just all around bad. I get 3 colors put in, on top of natural curly hair and I like to keep it long. I met Flora for the first time, this afternoon and it was a wonderful experience. As the reviews state, she is very sweet and easy to be around. I barely had to give her any direction, except to say that I wanted do go light blonde with my highlights. She took it from there and did an EXCELLENT JOB. It's honestly one of the best jobs I have ever had. She also put a complimentary toner on me---they're really nice. And, because I felt she knew what she was doing, I asked for a cut as well---also great. She took her time and I had her undivided attention. I will definitely return to see her. I had a wedding to go to last Sunday so I needed to get my hair done. I called Flora and made an appointment to see her on Sat. After reading all the great reviews I just decided to let her do her thing. She gave me a rich chocolate brown color with bronzy highlites to match the tan I got on my vacation not to long ago. Flora is a great stylist and asks what you want but also advises with a lot of experience to back it up. She has great taste and explains why she thinks something will be flattering. She's kind and fit me in same day (on a Saturday!). I'm always nervous to go to a new person but I can't afford to go to my previous stylist and travel all the way to Santa Monica. I was avoiding letting just anyone do my hair as I am new to the Burbank area, but after reading the reviews on city search about hair by flora I decided to see for myself. I had a new years party to go to and my hair was dark with light highlights. Flora convinced me to change my color because under dim lights the color contrast was very obvious and made me look older. She totally changed my appearance and made me look like a totally different person. My husband hardly recognized me when I got home. No more bad hair days since I found Flora. Praise God for the Internet! I just moved to the Burbank area and was in need of a good haircut, having whacked at it myself! I did my usual investigative work whereby I ask strangers whose haircuts I like, where they got it cut. But this time that approach was not my answer. Instead, I searched the Internet and read all the reviews on Flora. When I called for an appointment she was able to schedule me right away, (a real plus) and I could tell by her voice she would be a friendly soul. Not only was she indeed very charming, my haircut and color is the best I have ever received. The royal treatment she gave me with cake, candy, and tea made me feel like a true queen. She took her time with my cut, and made sure everything was to my liking. We agreed on a plan of growing my hair out a little and I look forward to seeing her again and working the plan. My husband was so thrilled with my new look that he even told me again this morning how much he loved it. Most of all.....I am thrilled, and my husband is very happy with that! I am known throughout the kingdom as THE HAIR LADY. When I am unhappy with my hair, ain't nobody happy!!! Anyone who would not be thrilled with Flora's service needs their head examined. I made an appt. with Flora based on other reviews here at CitySearch, and am so glad I did. Aside from doing exactly what I asked her to and having my hair turn out just the way I wanted (actually it was even better than anticipated), Flora is by far the nicest hairstylist I have ever been to. She was friendly, made me feel completely relaxed, brought me a plate of fresh fruit and, while I was under the dryer, periodically came by to ask if everything was okay. I am used to being placed under the dryer and then abandoned while a stylist does someone else's hair! I had grown my hair out for a year, waiting until it was long enough for the style I wanted. I told Flora I still wanted it to grow a bit longer, but at the same time wanted to incoporate some layering. She knew exactly what to do. My hair was also extremely dry and damaged from going to the cheap places for color/highlights. She gave me a wonderful conditioning treatment, and instead of putting me under a dryer, she has a warm steam machine - very expensive but better for the hair. Nice to find someone who invests some of her profits in what's best for her clients! I have never seen this machine at any other salon. Flora touched up my roots, gave me the conditioning treatment, as well as a haircut. I am so happy with the results, especially how soft my hair still is 3 weeks later! She gave me some wonderful tips on makeup, skincare, and products for my hair - all at MY request - she never tried to sell me anything. In fact, she does not sell any products! I immediately went on eBay and purchased all the items she had recommended for my face - and wow is there a difference! So, not only did I get a great hair experience, I also got some great skincare tips that have made my complection much smoother and brighter! The other reviewers weren't joking - Flora is really nice, professional and talented! This was my first visit with her and I'm excited about future visits. I'm trying to grow out a hair cut and style that's not working for me, so I told Flora what I wanted and she knew exactly what I was talking about. I really appreciate that she explained each step of the color and cut process & the benefits of doing it her way versus "traditional" methods. I also appreciate the instructions she gave me for caring for my color in between visits and what we should do next time to get my hair out of the final "in between" stage.
