Hackenmueller Meats

As an adult, I still have childhood memories of the spare ribs from Hackenmeullers in Robbinsdale. We lived on Yates Ave. N, and from our house, it was a short walk over there - down to the end of the street and across the highway. It has been 50+ years since we left and to this day, I remember their spare ribs! None has ever risen to meet the flavor and quality of what they served. I have heard that the business has changed hands since then but that the ribs are just as great as they were back then! Soon I will be moving back into the area, and am looking forward to taking my daughter with me to share in the great memories I've had all these years of Hackenmeuller's. I will never, ever get ribs any where else other than at Hacks. Then there is their Prime Rib roast. Marinated chicken breasts. I don't have a lot of money to spend. But how expensive is it to through meat away because it's to tough to eat? My kids are always hanging out on Hacks day to unload the car. Why? Cause mom bought a fist full of real Jerky they can munch on while the ribs are on the grill. Pros: Quality service, Quality product Cons: I'd like to see more frozen selections that feeds two. more

This place simply rocks. Last of dying breed of butcher shop. The stuffed pork chops, the spiral cut ham and the jerky are particularly good. But the steaks are awesome as well. You CANNOT go wrong. We've been going to Hackenmueller's for about the last year, and have been impressed by all the different items we've had. The turkey jerky is top shelf, the picnic ham slices are great, and their cuts of meat are phenomenal. In fact, we just picked up some lamb chops (although they only come frozen) a few days ago. I normally detest lamb as most places we've been it ends up smelling and tasting like it was just peeled off the road. Hackenmueller's came through once again, the meat smelled clean and the curry we made turned out just right. As the others here can attest, we think they're great with the exception of their lack of presence on the Internet or having an answering machine message. I don't know of any better butcher shops in Minnesota then Hackenmueller's. There may be some as good but I doubt that there are any better. I drive 14.7 miles to get their shop. I am not a huge fan of meat in general and when I see the tubes of ground beef at the local grocery stores I can't believe that people buy them. At Hackenmullers you can always see the meat and it smells fresh and clean. They also have top service. When I was preganant and now that I have a little one they always insisted on carrying out my order. They also offer cooking tips, requested cutting, and special orders. Coming from a NYC Italian family I have never found the meat cuts I need for some reciepes in MN (like cheek meat) and they always are willing to get in what ever I request. Great place to shop! I've gone to Hackenmuiller Meats for years and have never had a bad experience. Their meat is top quality - their service is second to none. They are extremely helpful when it comes to trying to figure out the best cut of meat for the meal you are preparing. They instruct (if asked) on the best way to prepare what you have purchased. It's wonderful to hear them referring to their long standing customers by first name. . .show's a place that is customer satisfaction based.
