Twice is enough!! My daughter brought her Jeep in for service (Oil change & Lube -- which was done well and priced fairly) and came away with a list of items Duxler claimed needed repair. \r
\r
First on the list was new tires which they quoted at $722. The problem is her tires were in great shape with only 55% of their expected life used. I took them to COSTCO and to another dealer who both said her tires showed normal wear and should not need replacing for another 15,000 to 20,000 miles. \r
\r
Then they wanted to do an alignment for $99 but her tires showed no sign of unusual wear indicating an alignment might be necessary. \r
\r
They told her she needed new front brakes, but her brakes had been replaced 27,000 miles before. I had another qualified dealer look at them and they said her brakes were fine. And Duxler wanted to do a brake-fluid flush for $92.95 which I suspect would have been necessary only if they were replacing her brakes.\r
\r
Duxler wanted her to replace the Serpentine Belt but when I took her car to a dealer I trust, he said no belt was needed and declined the offer to put on a new one.\r
\r
They recommended a Throttle Body and Fuel Injector Service but two other mechanics could find no reason to suggest that service was necessary.\r
\r
I had a conversation with the Duxler owner about two years ago, the last time this happen, and he took offence to my charge that they we telling people to repair items that did not need repair. Of the list Duxler wrote on my daughters invoice this week (which totalled over $1,600) absolutely NOTHING needed to be replaced or repaired.\r
\r
The Duxler's probably do good work and seem to be nice guys, but they tell you to repair parts on your car that do not need repairing or replacing. I suspect they do this to customers who might not be as automobile-savey as others. My daughter was certainly susceptible and would have paid for hundreds of dollars of un-necessary repairs had I not gotten a second opinion from a couple of qualified dealers. \r
\r
Duxler's should be ashamed of themselves. \r
