H2 Oasis is a medium-sized indoor waterpark located in South Anchorage.
They have several different slides entering into the pool, including a large windy body slide that circles around most of the pool areas.
There is a wave pool, regular pool, kiddy pool, two large hot tub areas, a lazy river for floating the whole area of the building, and numerous built-in water toys for children to play with.
One area where H2 Oasis excels is in providing ample supervision as far as lifeguards go. They definitely are on the ball in the area of safety!!
There are quite a few areas around the various pools where people can sit or lay on beach chairs when not in the water.
On busy days, it as loud as any indoor pool facility with the sound of children playing and laughing.
One of the things I love about H2 Oasis is that aside from being an indoor water park, the facility opens up the lazy river to anyone wanting exercize on M > W > F from 7am to 10am (double check their website for any changes to times, days).. Not only is this very affordable, but it works out well for those who want a heavier workout (walking against the current) to those who are older or just want very mild excersise (walking with the current). Shower & dressing area is included in the small daily fee, or you can purchase punch-cards for 12 visits.
Above the pool area are 3 or 4 food vendors offering cold drinks, snacks, pizza, etc.. Not fine dining by any means ;-) ... just a place to grab a quick drink, ice cream or snack.
There are picnic tables all along the top balcony area which can be rented for children's birthday/pool parties. This is a great idea, but the chlorine from the pool seems to rise to this area and (unlike the pool area) is really noticable. They recently installed a giant new ceiling fan to help remedy the problem and when I try the area again, I'll update this if the problem has been remedied.
The birthday areas can also very warm in the summertime, so bring a cooler if you're bringing in your own icecream! They do offer a couple of air-conditioned party rooms at slightly higher costs.
There is also a small arcade area in the upper balcony, and recently a suntanning business has been added. Showers are free, and lockers can be rented if needed.
Because the pool is open daily and stays fairly busy, the rim along the pool wall above the waterline can start to get discolored and somewhat dirty. I believe they close the pool twice a year for cleaning and re-painting, but I think it could stand to be done even more frequently than that.
H2 Oasis does a good job of trying to create a tropical retreat in a cold winter city, and I'm very thankful that they're here. I hope that sometime down the road, they'll be able to expand their building to make it even larger .. but in the meantime, it's worthy of a great rating just the way it is!!
Pros: An indoor oasis in the snow, warm year round!
Cons: Internal pool area needs to be cleaned on sides more often
