Gypsy Moon

For almost twenty years, Gypsy Moon has been the mecca for romantic clothing that moves. My dance background led to a desire to design clothing that stretches, swings, catches the air and creates grace even when you`re standing still. Our recent addition of hand-loomed knitwear, made here in Lexington, was exactly right for dancers or people who want to look like dancers. The elongated washed linen pants that hang straight from the hip, showing nothing but a lean line, the layered, over sized sweaters that make you look like a fragile waif, and the hand-loomed sheer linen skirts that have a weighted ruffle at the bottom to flow smoothly around the body and the shorter skirts caught up with pirate coins at strategic places, perfect over pants or jeans...all meant to be mixed, matched and just casually tossed on for a rogue-ish feel. As of this spring, we are bringing in some high-end designers...now you won`t have to go to Newbury St. to pick up a Rick Owens leather jacket, a Rozae Nichols suit or a Chan Luu bag...it`s finally all here, right where you live, in a romantic and warm old-world atmosphere where you will be pampered while you shop. I sometimes shop in Lexington Center while my daughter is at dance class, and I`m usually pretty bored with the same old stuff. Plenty for teen-agers and seniors but not much for women in the middle, looking for something stylish. Then I found Gypsy Moon. It`s a little out of the way, I found it while waiting to go to the restaurant, Lex. The minute I stepped through the door, it was like leaving the world behind and stepping into a misty new one where silk dresses shimmered and chandeliers glowed warmly on the velvet couch. I wanted to live there! The young woman who helped me was a dream to work with. She was super friendly and sweet, very attentive and I felt she really listened to me. I found something I loved but it was the wrong color, so they offered to make it for me, custom, at no additional fee. Sure enough, in 9 days it arrived at my house, wrapped wonderfully with flowers and ribbons and with a cool little vintage bracelet added in as a gift because they thought it went with my outfit. I couldn't believe it. I wrote them a thank you note and they posted it in their customer comments. I am a loyal customer for life...these people are the kindest and most generous folks I have ever met in a retail situation. I think this is how the world used to be, a long time ago. more

Friends of mine in the fashion industry recommended Gypsy Moon to me when I was looking for a custom, romantic, comfortable dress for my wedding ceremony. I called Candace who immediately took me under her wing. She personally worked with me to design and fit a unique and gorgeous dress. This included many long distance phone conversations and shipping of the dress back and forth from North Carolina to Lexington multiple times before it arrived, packaged like a wedding gift and unbelievably perfect! She even created a beautiful matching flower covered handbag by surprise and at no charge- I carried it instead of flowers at the ceremony. The cost was VERY reasonable. I have never experienced this level of investment in my satisfaction from ANY business before and I probably never will again. Since the wedding I have relied on Gypsy Moon to suggest skirts, blouses and scarves for my "dress up" wardrobe. The pieces I have purchased from Gypsy Moon are my absolute favorites and I will treasure them forever. I have a profound respect and admiration for Candace and the staff. It is truly a pleasure doing business with them. more
