Great Place 3/2/2009

It is very hard to find authentic Cajun food outside of the south but The Gumbo shop is a awesome. We treat ourselves once a month and that is a 20 minute drive from the office. The entire menu is great. more

Spice in the Land-o-Bland! 8/28/2008

Great Jambalaya - my favorite. My wife's a fan of their Red Beans & Rice. Even the cornbread's special. We moved to St. Louis from Abita Springs, Louisiana and most of our family is in the Baton Rouge area. My wife was born in the same town as The Gumbo Shop's owner and cajun food is a way of life for us. Go and enjoy!!! If you are looking for Cajun food at it's finest, look no further than The Gumbo Shop. They serve up the most delectable Cajun catfish, gumbo and other fine fare. Just as diamonds that come in small packages can delight the recipient , this tiny restaurant will delight your taste buds. It serves great Cajun seafood at very reasonable prices (unlike diamond prices). The Gumbo Shop food is as good as you'll find anywhere in Louisiana. Pros: Delicious food, reasonable prices more

Great New Orleans Food 2/3/2006

The Gumbo Shop is one of St. Louis' most authentic New Orleans seafood restaurants. The interior is simple but inviting. Being from New Orleans I can tell you that the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The Jambala and Gumbo are fantastic as well as the fried catfish. The shrimp poboys are delicious and well worth the price (they will be a bit more expensive than a great seafood poboy in New Orleans but we are not living on the Gulf Coast here in St. louis).
