I recently went to Gumbeaux's for the first time. What a restaurant find! I arrived for lunch on a Saturday, and was promptly seated. Gumbeaux's is an unpretentious, hole-in-the-wall kind of place (and these kinds of places often have THE best food!), with the requisite Louisiana-themed decor. Our waitress, Nancy, (who is also the manager) was prompt in taking our order, and well-versed about all menu items. I overheard her speaking with other customers, and she is serious about making sure customers are 100% satisfied, or she'll do whatever it takes to make it so. The menu is broad and varied, but not overwhelming to read and decide upon. I ordered Shrimp Etouffee and a cup of Chicken & Sausage Gumbo. Each was excellent; perfectly seasoned. They were NOT stingy with the plump, good-sized shrimp; and the gumbo was teeming with sausage and chicken-breast pieces. The portions are generous, and the prices most reasonable. This is authentic and quality cajun food. I understand a second Gumbeaux's, in Newnan, failed to really catch on, and it was recently closed. That's a shame. What were you folks in Newnan thinking?! I plan to return again and again for this great cajun food, even though it is quite a drive from my ""neck of the woods."" I will take friends there, and I will pass the word --you gotta try it! Hey Gumbeaux's, open a restaurant in MY area (Northlake), or at least closer in to Atlanta. Your business would be booming! And, thanks, Nancy. You were great!
Pros: Quality of food. Portions. Value.
Cons: I would imagine there would be a wait for the dinner crowd, because it IS so good. There's not one located closer to where I live.
