Gullifty's Restaurant

When I first started attending Pitt, I was told I had to go to Gullifty's for their amazing desserts. When I finally ordered my first slice of some chocolatey pie, I was extremely disappointed. The pies they display in the cases in the front look extremely rich and decadent. When I received my piece it looked as if someone got whip cream and chocolate and mixed it together then threw it into a pie shell. The taste was comparable to the cream pies at Eat n Park but for much more money. I was expecting unique ingredients with interesting flavors and terrific presentations. As for the food, the menu didn't seem like it offered anything different then traditional foods, so I didn't even try it after my pie experience. Hope your experience is better than mine! more

Gullify's has your normal selection of entrees. They're slightly expensive but not outrageous. It's a good place to go on a date. My favorite things at Gullify's are their fajitas and their desserts. They are located in Squirrel Hill on Murray. The atmosphere is fine--nothing great or horrible. more

Gullifty's, a landmark institution to some, is an average American food restaurant with highly over-rated desserts. The food is as inventive as your average big box chain but with less consistency. The quality of their cakes & pies does not follow through on the pretension they display. At the end of the day, there are probably desserts that are OK (the apple pie and killer cookie?). But you could probably do just as well down the street at Eat'N Park. more
