Guitar shopping 12/15/2011

I typically avoid supporting big corporate chainstores that import most of their inventory from countries where sweatshops are the norm. I will have to say that after trying Dusty Strings (where despite the hype, I was never greeted even after trying guitars for half an hour), and American Music (where the selection was dismal, and the staff was also not attentive), Guitar Maniacs (THAT store is a joke), I stopped at Guitar Center to see what they had to offer (never having been to one). I will say that the attention I received here was far superior to all of the other stores. Attentive, helpful and friendly, with a decent selection of commercial guitars at competitive prices. I ultimately bought a hand made instrument privately, but it's worth mentioning these folks had knowledgeable and friendly staff. more

the drum department sucks they don't know anything about what there doing. Nathan is the worst employee ever, and the whole department acts like their on coke. Also this Guitar Center manager will do anything he can to not honer the extended coverage plan that they try to get you to buy. I wish I could give a negative stars.... oh and check their math because all 6 times I have been there the totals have been more than they should be. HEY CORPORATE FIRE EVERYONE IN THE DEPARTMENT THEIR POCKETING $$$$$. more

Biggest selection in Pierce county, but a little pricey 2/23/2011

This is what I would call a music ""superstore"". The name may have guitar in it, but they sell much more. Drums, keyboards, you name it. I consider myself a hobby guitarist, nothing too serious, and Guitar Center has pretty much everything I could ever imagine needing right in one place. When I get the chance, I like to stop by just to try out the new gear they have. The prices are mostly fair, but you can probably find the same things online for cheaper. more
