Grumpy's

I finally went to Grumpy's after moving back to Toledo and hearing about their food. After dining there with my family I felt as if I had been conned. The food itself was no better than the fare at Applebee's and our server was very rude and reeked of body odor. Thinking I caught them on a bad day, I decided to give them a second chance one week later. Guess what? The second time was worse. This time, my burger was undercooked, there was a hair in my drinking glass, and the server got my check wrong. Twice. Grumpy's, get your act together. You're a business, act like one. more

But I also love the salads and burgers! Which to choose? My head just exploded! As a side note, Grumpy's is named Grumpy's for a reason... but the ownership just changed so those of a more ""delicate"" nature should not have any issues anymore. It's still the great food... but a little less grumpy! more

we checked out grumpys new menu last week and damn it's even better than before. we've always loved their burgers... my husband goes at least once every other week to have one, and i've always loved their reubens and salads. but last week we tried one of their wraps, as well as the pulled pork sliders. SO SO SO SO GOOD! more

Don?t go there! We did and it was a BIG mistake! We ordered the Tub sandwich and the roll was hard and cold, like it had been out of the freezer just ten minutes earlier. (All their rolls are frozen, not fresh.) We tried to send the sandwich back three times, but the young waitresses are so intimidated by the owner (sicko) that it sat in front of us for 20-minutes. They acted like they were afraid to pick it up. Finally, we left $5.00 for the two $1.25 soft drinks. The owner followed us outside the restaurant and called the police on his cell phone and asked that we be arrested and thrown in jail. He argued with my wife and told me to shut my f-ing mouth, then went back inside, got the $5.00 we left for the soft drinks, and threw it at us saying, ?We don?t accept partials.? The food at this place is just mediocre, but the owner is a total psycho -- a danger to himself, his employees and his customers. He?s a very, very sick puppy! With the demise of so many downtown restaurants, you'd think that Grumpy's restaurant on Huron St. would bend over backward to retain customers. I love the food. I love the interior. HOWEVER, this is my LAST time visiting Grumpy's until the owner gets a med refill. This I promise. Once an ""in"" place to enjoy lunch, Grumpy's Restaurant can no longer rest on its laurels. Not even a drink refill after 45 minutes of waiting. But we did get the bill ($21 for ONE BURGER AND A SALAD)....BEFORE WE GOT OUR FOOD!! Our food arrived ONLY after we reminded the waitress. My friend's burger was so raw it looked like the cow was possibly still alive. The owner was incredibly rude and arrogant after a request was politely made of him. He seemed to forget who helps pay his bills. I work with over 600 other employees. I will urge them to forgo this restaurant until it, too, fades out with so many other downtown Toledo establishments. It's sad.
