Views, music and great food! 7/4/2008

I love this restaurant! The views are amazing, the staff (that we have had) are super friendly and very professional. In fact, every time we have gone there, the manager, Tony, has introduced himself or remembered us from our previous visit. The food has never been better- try the spice crusted duck with parsnip blintzes and cherries, the pretzel crusted pork chops with orange mustard sauce and the apple bread pudding is the best I have ever had. The wine list is huge and most every wine is one that I can't find or get anywhere. When I was in last night, the by the glass page was 3 pages long and had both full glass and half glass sizes available. That is brilliant as I like to pair my food with wines. The music is live and it just fills up the room with a great ambiance. Best place in the Vail area in my opinion. Great valuep- large portions. Pros: patio, music, views more

Decent but pricey food, Atrocious waiter 12/21/2007

On entering the BC resort area I was excited to hear at the gate entrance that in we were staying at the best hotel (The Pines Lodge) and that its restaurant, Grouse Mountain Grill was excellent. The hotel exceeded our expectations but the restaurant was dissapointing. We were seated immediately and our hostess was extremely cordial, but unfortunately for us we ended up with a sulky and rude waiter. As other reviewers have commented, the wines are very expensive (our was $17/glass). To make sure we ordered a wine to our liking, we asked to taste one pinot grigio and one riesling. Our waiter almost balked at this request but reluctantly brought our selections out, but mixed up which wine was which! We ordered what we thought was a surprisingly dry riesling and after the first very sweet sip we immediately realized that the wines had gotten switched. We informed our hostess and she said that they would be happy to bring out the right wine and that we may keep the glasses that were brought out by mistake. When the waiter was informed of HIS mistake, he looked insulted and even rolled his eyes! He then preceded to remove our glasses, though he heard what the hostess had told us, and brought out the correct wine. From that point on he did not have a hand in bringing anything else to our table (bread, appetizers, meals and dessert were all brought by other employees, who were all very agreeable). This waiter has no idea of what 4-star service is and shouldn't be working in such a nice restaurant! The food was good but I think overhyped. Here is the list of the food we ordered (4 stars are delicious dishes and highly recommended: more

Beaver Creek Elegance 11/30/2004

Our party of six was very pleased with our meal. I started with the rock shrimp & fingerling potato appetizer served on a flatbread with cider syrup. Absolutely delicious. I usually don't order chicken but the sweet onion egg noodles it came with won me over. It was better than you can magine. Wine list had a lot of pricey selections, but offers several quality offerings by the glass. The live piano player added a nice ambiance. Pros: Service, Presentation, Food Quality more

Tough Critic 9/6/2003

Yes, it's expensive. So what are you doing in Beaver Creek then? Absolutely wonderful meal. Service was attentive, but not absolute. The wine list is a bit much, but we mananged with a decent bottle for $70. At least the glasses were a cut above. Take one of the many Beaver Creek Shuttle buses to get there. Parking and access are a bit tight. Pros: Food, ambience, Food Cons: Wine values more

Best in the Vail Valley 9/4/2003

As with all of Vail/Beaver Creek high flyers, GMG does things with style and class... but with a Rocky Mountain attitude. I picked it above Splendido, Sweet Basil, Picasso, Larkspur and all the rest to celebrate my wedding engagement and it will remain a family favorite as long as Beaver Creek remains our destination of choice. Pros: Food, Ambience, Location Cons: Expensive more
