These mechanics are really lame. Don't waste your $$$ 9/3/2013

DON'T GO!!! I made the huge mistake of taking my car here to replace the struts. The estimate was low - I should have guessed they had no idea what they were doing. When I got the car back the new struts started making a clunking/rattling sound, so I took it back. The lead mechanic was cold and rude and took it for a drive (in which I insisted on going with him so I could witness him hearing the noise). The noise was obvious, but he was reluctant to acknowledge it at first - I thought this to be very rude.\r \r He took it back to the garage and put it on the rack and checked it out and said that the bearings needed replacing. I was appalled, as that is usually done at the same time as the strut replacement. When I took it to Les Schwab earlier for an estimate, their's included the bearing plate replacement. \r \r So the idiot squirted some oil on the worn bearings and sent me on my way. It still clunks as loud as ever and the suspension is horrible. What a waste of time and money!!! \r \r T more

Otherwise, don't waste your time - take you car to a real mechanic. more

Awful. my first experience with them 1/4/2012

Awful. my first experience with them they rebuilt my transmission. after they rebuilt it the gears ground horribly whenever I shifted. the lead mechanic mark proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't drive it like a race car driver and it was normal behavior. wouldn't even take a second look. $1,200 wasted. second experience I made the mistake of returning there as it is the only mechanic shop nearby I thought for a quick fix for jumpiness in acceleration. The head mechanic Mark again was the one that ended up looking at my car was very short with me, charged me $85 service fee to change a $15 fuel filter that was not the problem and sent me packing with no resolution whatsoever. upon calling them again when realizing the problem had not been fixed Mark pointed the finger at everything but himself. Didn't even check basic causes such as fuel pressure or fuel injectors (known issues from ford) and refused to do so upon return. If they worked as much as they B*S-ed they would have found out and fixed it by now. save yourself time and lots of money and stress by not going to these crooks and just go to a dealership instead. more

We have been taking our cars to Grimms for years. The past year we have been so disappointed. They broke my speedometer and then tried to say that they didn't. It was not broken when we took it there. I had to argue about the $75.00 fee and they did not charge me. My other car has been a regular with Grimms as well, my daughter in in college and has broken down three times after coming back from Grimms. This last time we took it to them they said it was related to what we were charged $600.00 for, but it wasn't really the same thing, confused? We were/are. They charged us another 300.00 for labor only, no parts required. We also noticed that an additional 100 miles was put on the car, I mean I've heard of road tests, but really. Not happy in Lake Oswego. more

Grimm's Service is by far the very best place to take your car for repair in the Portland metro area. My husband and I were ripped off by a shyster who is still enjoying a thriving business. I wrote to the attorney general of Oregon with proof our cars had unnessessary repairs on our vehicles! Thank goodness a friend recommended Grimm's Service! They are so honest and give you plenty of information regarding repairs your car will need in the future. more

Honest and reliable service 2/12/2010

When we first moved to Lake Oswego one of my biggest needs was a trustworthy and skilled mechanic. I've been taking our cars to Grimms since 1982 and Mark Grimms has saved us thousands of dollars. He refuses to repair somthing that's not broken or in need of repair. You will not find a better and more trustworhty auto repair shop in the city. more

Excellent Service 5/10/2006

Our family has been taking our cars to Grimms for as long as I can remember. What impresses me the most about Grimms is that they take the time to truly explain what needs to be repaired and don't force you to repair something that can wait. I've never felt like Grimms was taking advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. If anything, I think they try to make me a better consumer by giving me as much information as possible. They do an amazing job with repairs and their prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend them. more

Great Service 7/17/2005

I think that Grimms Service is wonderful. Everytime we have had anything wrong with automobiles we have taken them there, and have always had great service and the price was fair. more
