Excellent food, service, prices 10/8/2010

As tourists in the area we found ourselves in the Old Mill District, an upscale outdoor mall on the site of an old lumber mill on the banks of the Deschutes River. Wandering in on a Saturday night in October, we were immediately seated and waited on, both by very personable women. The decor was fitting for the area, and the table of semi-formally decked out teens appeared as appropriate as our casual dress. My coffee came immediately and promised a quality that the menu did not. Usually, a menu that includes burgers and fish n' chips can't produce in the steak and seafood dishes. Not so, here. The Caesar Salad was fresh and tasty. My steak was a true medium-rare and tender. The veggie, while just green beans, was not too raw and not too limp.. The basmati rice was very subtly laced with lemon and thyme and done just right. This isn't a gourmet menu, but it is expertly done with a light touch. The seafood place down the block could learn a few things from the folks at Greg's. more

Not worth the price 8/31/2010

Since moving back to Oregon about a year ago, we hadn't had many chances to eat out at a nice restaurant. We had family in town on the first nice weekend in the summer and decided to eat at Greg's to enjoy the view and the concert across the river. We made reservations for six and hoped to enjoy a pleasant evening out on the patio at Greg's. When we arrived, our reservation was not in the book, and it took the staff over a half hour to figure out what happened to it. We were finally seated, and then avoided for another twenty minutes, until a server took our drink order, which included a couple beers, a mixed drink and two diet sodas. All but one of our drinks were fouled up, and it took another fifteen or twenty minutes for the staff to correct that and take our food order. Our food did arrive promptly, but three of our orders were wrong, and my steak was room temperature at best. We spoke with a manager who acted like he refused to believe that we were being truthful and did nothing to compensate our unpleasant night. (We ate at Shari's a few weeks later, our food took twenty minutes and it was free, which we didn't even ask for). I would not recommend anyone going to this restaurant. Many people I have talked with have had similar experiences. Go around the corner to the nice little Italian restaurant. They have a wonderful staff and the food is much more reasonably priced and tastes great. Stay away from Greg's! more

Impressive atmosphere; sub par food 4/24/2009

Having just relocated to Bend, we selected Greg's Grill as our first night out to celebrate our arrival. At first glance you would think this place has to be the best in town; the giant entry doors and foyer are exquisite, with a warm and friendly staff to match. Pros: Architechture, interior design, view, balanced service Cons: Food more

1st & last visit. 7/14/2008

My wife and I walked into Greg's on a slow evening and were promptly seated by a friendly hostess. While perusing the menus, a busboy cleared a table next to us. He didn't even glance our way. A server checked on the booth behind us. She didn't offer a "" be right with you"". We looked around and saw staff members, but none saw us. After 10 minutes of being ignored, we walked out. If not for the hostess that originally sat us and asked why we were leaving, they would have never known we were there. It looks like a very nice place from outside; which is where I shall remain. more

Warm and Inviting, Definitely has the Bend ambience going on. 9/25/2007
