I think there will be people who have good experiences and bad experiences. That does not make anyone right or wrong it is just their experience. What is not ok is the posts from people saying that this review is a lie. How about an apology that this woman had a bad experience. How about saying you have never had complaints before and you would like to do everything you can to change her experience. This would seem like a more professional way to handle a complaint from a parent. more

Horrible Staff. \r Ok well, I brought my son to this establishment, because it looked very nice from the outside, the area its located by seems good and after I received the tour, I thought this was a good decision. It's a small facility, it cozy and cute. \r Please note, that this was the first time for my 3 yr old son to be in a PreK day care. Now, also note, that my son is a handful. He's very smart but seems to have fits when he gets frustrated or things don't go his way, I figured with the proper help, he would adjust and learn to cooperate, I mean, that is why these places exists right? So they can help him learn along with the parents and teachers guidance. \r \r Ok moving forward, when I first brought him, he would cry and be very upset, about us leaving him there. It took him about 2 months for him to stop crying after we left him there. \r When I first enrolled him, my son was potty trained, he still had trouble wiping but I told the teachers this and they told me they would help him. \r First incident, I picked him up and his underwear was covered with stains. I of course, told them this and even showed them a photo of what it looked like. \r From then on, it was constant telling me how my son was not behaving well, how they didn't know how to calm him down, they suggested that I have him evaluated to see if he has any behavior problem so they can see how they can help him and I cooperated, I contacted LAUSD to get him evaluated and see what we can do to help. LAUSD told me they would have him evaluated in a couple of months. When school was back on (it is now summer break) We would talk to my son to make him understand that its not ok to have fits and he needs to listen to the teachers. We as parents were doing our part, \r \r He also got Bitten or a rug burn (my son is only 3 yrs so he couldn't really explain what happened) in the facility but they declined to take responsibility in the incident. They tried to flip it around and say he came in that way but I know my child didn't have that when I dropped him off. And Frankly I don't care if he got it there or how, but the fact they denied knowing anything about it and tried to blame me bothered me. \r But it came to the point where the Head Coordinator told me that if he acts up again. He can no longer attend the PreK daycare. \r \r Things went sour and after three lovely months there, my experience with this place was over. \r \r Let me also mention that the Govt helps me pay for child care. The amount I pay is based on my income. I have to sign a form every month to make sure they get paid.\r On one occasion I missed a signature and they made a big deal over me not being able to go over there and signing the form. Yes, I understand its policy but I feel like these women (owner) are in it for the income. \r \r I feel like my son got discriminated. Yes, I understand that his behavior was probably not appropriate all the time, they made such a big deal over it. I wonder if I payed them full cash, if they would still even discuss his behavior with me. \r \r The only teacher I did feel that actually liked my son works in the afternoon, her name is Ms. Gayanne. \r She would try to work with my son and she genuinely seem like she cared for my son. \r All the other ones, did not even give my son a chance. \r \r And last but note least, most of my reviews are short and simple but my experience here was not good and that is why I decided to share this with all of you. \r Is this place good? It's not good and it's not bad. The people working there could definitely be better. \r You will have to experience and see for yourself. more

I am a past employer and friend to Ms. Laurie for more than 10 years and I have never worked with anyone who was so caring with children and who loved her job more. I cannot say anything bad about her and to think that someone who obviously knows nothing about her has the audacity and nerve to say something negative about her. I can say that the rumors are 100% NOT true. I completely trust her with my own child and the children in my family childcare. She works very hard and has an excellent repertoire with all the parents and children. more

In response to Anonymous A. I am the current owner of Greenwood Preschool and I have not had any teachers leave our school since the time i have been here. I took over the school about 3 years ago and since then have had the same teachers on staff. This review is obviously a lie and it sounds to me like a disgruntled parent or person who is trying to attack our current director and teachers personally. The parents at our school should know that if they have any complaints regarding our school or our staff they can come to me personally and discuss them. I can assure you that our parents here at Greenwood are happy with our care and services. The children at our school always come first to our staff and are well taken care of by the teachers. These have been false accusations and we want all of our parents to know they are clearly not true. more

DO NOT SEND YOUR child here. I used to work here and I can tell you the school is understaffed. The two teachers have very short tempers with the kids and are constantly yelling at them. Both teachers have a very poor attitude towards the kids and I left because of how un-nurturing the place was. The kids are left dirty, crying, and walking around. Ms Laurie also looks like she is an ex gang member and she would constantly talk negatively about the children and how bad their parents were more

Great Preschool 1/15/2010

Wow! Greenwood Preschool is an amazing find! We are extremely lucky to have found such a wonderful place. They have a ?babies? class for the small children where they play, sing, dance, have art projects and story time. Children are fully potty trained and are provided homemade lunches at Greenwood Preschool, what more can we ask for? Pros: Wonderful teacher and curriculum. Reasonably priced. Cons: Their not open on the weekend! more

Fantastic School 1/15/2010

Both of our children have attended Greenwood Preschool since they were 2 years old. We have grown to love and trust the teachers and directors at Greenwood like they are our own family. As a teacher myself, it was extremely important to find a preschool that is warm, nurturing, developmental, and builds a strong foundation for the love of learning. All of these qualities are present daily at Greenwood Preschool. The day is structured with a nice balance of play, art, singing, dancing, and a progressive curriculum. Pros: Homemade lunches, potty training, progressive curriculum more

BEWARE: HORRIBLE PLACE FOR CHILDREN 12/31/2009

THIS WAS THE FIRST SCHOOL THAT MY SON EVER ATTENDED. WHEN HE STARTED THERE HE HAD NOT YET LEARNED TO SPEAK. AS HE GREW AND LEARNED TO SPEAK I WOULD ASK HIM HOW HIS DAY WAS OR WHAT HAPPENED AT SCHOOL. HE WOULD REPLY WITH SAYING THINGS LIKE "SLAP YOU", "DON'T TALK BACK" OR "MRS. BETTY HIT ME" ... PHRASES THAT WERE NOT USED AT HOME. I MENTIONED IT TO THE OWNER AND HER DAUGHTER AND I WAS TOLD THAT, " CHILDREN SOMETIMES MAKE THINGS UP OR SEE THINGS ON T.V AND REPEAT THEM!" I BEGAN NOTICING ODD BEHAIOR IN MY SON LIKE, HIM FLINCHING WHEN A HAND GOT TO CLOSE TO HIS FACE OR WHEN HE THOUGHT HE DID SOMETHING WRONG, AS WELL AS MORE AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR LIKE HITTING. AFTER MAKING THEM AWARE THAT I WAS WATCHING, I BEGAN POPING UP AT DIFFERENT TIMES. ON A FEW OCCASIONS I CAME UPON MY SON SITTING IN A CORNER ALONE OR ALIENATED FROM THE OTHER CHILDREN. THERE WERE SVERAL OCCASIONS THAT HE HAD MARKS ON HIS BODY. WHEN I ASKED THE TEACHERS WHAT HAD OCCURRED, NO ONE SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! I THEN FILED A POLICE REPORT AND WITHDREW MY SON FROM THE SCHOOL. I WOULD NOT WISH THIS HORROR ON ANYONES BABY! BEWARE!!!! Cons: MY CHILD WAS ABUSED BY THE STAFF more

Great School!!! 2/23/2009

This school has been around for decades. It is NAEYC accredited (which is how I found it). My daughter has attended Greenwood since she was 3 years old. They helped fully potty train her and have consistently provided an exceptional curriculum which prepared her for acceptance into another private school for Kindergarten. She is "graduating" from Greenwood's preschool in June and keeps saying she'll miss her Greenwood teachers. They provide adequate play time, a wide range of activities, and a nurturing environment. I have friends who send their kids to so-called montessori schools or other daycares where the kids just "play" all day long (and double the tuition!) and I'm glad to say my daughter is much more prepared for Kindergarten thanks to Greenwood. Love this school! Pros: CLEAN environment, great teachers, excellent curriculum, reasonable tuition-and worth every penny! Cons: Smaller sized school, but comparable to others in the area more
