Love Greenfield Village, Hate The Price! 9/25/2010

Our family really loves to go to the village. We had a family membership that was a gift from grandma and we went often and had a blast. Our kids are 14, 11, and 7. When I went to renew the membership I almost fainted at the price!!! We could not afford the renewal. more

TOOT TOOT all aboard the Village express 8/8/2002

There are many things to do here, a littl expensive but the yearly passes are well worth it. Other than the village there is the Henry Ford Museum with HUGE trains and many interesting things for kids and adults to do. In the village you will find historic homes and many demonstrations, some of which you can do yourself and make a post card for example. during the summer they have many activities for the family and a re-enactment of a war (can't remember which) take a horse drawn carriage ride or eat some frozen custard, ride the train around and get a tour, ride the steam boat, and visit the train house. they repair old trains abck to working condition. bring a stroller and snacks and drinks. Pros: plenty to do, country atmosphere, educational Cons: costly, can be HOT, saturday's crowded more

Sample U.S. History 7/26/2002

The village is a great place for families, young and old. It's beautiful year round. I remember taking my family there when my son had an assignment on Thomas Edison. We took him there to see Edison's laboratory and spark his interest by ""being there."" The museum can also be enjoyed by everyone. There is so much to see, from the huge locomotives, cars, airplanes to beautiful dishes. Pros: good parking, museum if it rains, good gift shops more

Always something fun to see and do!!! 6/2/2002

We live about a mile down the road from Greenfield Village and have annual passes--we go many times a year, and there's always something interesting happening. Spring planting with horse-drawn plows, a Civil War reenactment, a baseball game circa 1900, preserving food for the winter at the Firestone farm... Also a very relaxing place to go--you know the modern world is just outside the village, but that's hard to believe when you're there. Don't miss the July 4th fireworks (held for 4 nights with music by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra), and make sure you stop by the Eagle Tavern and order a drink from Silas, the barman. (""Temperance drinks"" available, too!) The tavern is straight out of the 1850's, and so is Silas. He loves to discuss ""current events"" of the day! Lots for the kids to do, but plenty of fun without kids, too. Pros: Lots of activities, Recreates history wel, Coolers, wagons okay Cons: Sometimes crowded, Long lines for food more
